Our trip to Sigiriya began at 12 midnight on the 24th May 2013...Getting into Sigiriya adn the turn off to Kimbissa..there were no landmarks into the left turn to the Boutique hotel only from Vil Uyana would you see the signage..So keep that in mind..When you head to the Boutique Hotel there is an enormous handmade elephant(life size) that scared the hell out of the two of us but in the day time I am sure it would look nice...Yet a little bit of light into the premises would make your customers feel at ease. The property is lovely, food and yes particularly Wijeratne. Then the rooms are gorgeous yet the tree frogs that refuse to leave your room unless you get a net to chase it away. The billiards table in the Bar needs to be really looked at as the cues decided to go flying when we wanted to play. And certain areas needs to be cleaned up. The paint is peeling in some of the villas hence a touch up is a must...The food is really good and all in all it is a super experience. I am sure when it was at the epitome of the Boutique Villas, it would have been the grandest of grand however the owners need to really look after it and not give up on the beautiful property it is. The architecture, landscaping and indeed the interior is absolutely lovely. And the 200 acres it sits on is peaceful and definitely a money can never buy. So Thakshila and Lalith you have alot to do to make this the best boutique hotel and the most talked about...But let me tell you your team in all areas are the very best however they need to be a bit assertive and insist that they come in and replenish the tea cups that we have used which were sitting there for days and replenishing the bottles of water. So in order for you to be better than Vil Uyana that you strangely believe is your competitor get your strategies right and then your market share will be won. also get the horses and stables going and you will have a very sexy product:) Think of Vil Uyana as not a competitor but a partner and ride with it..well done! My husband and loved the place and will recommend it for sure....Also need to mention the innovative way they have alphetized the rooms instead of numbering them. The two wings separating the suites are named Upuladevi and Mugulan as a tribute to the sister and brother of King Kassyapa. Hence our suite was UO...nice and creative...Well done Mr Jayawardena and Ms Phillipan!!!
