“Perfect base for exploring cultural triangle in Sri Lanka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013 via mobile

The Kassapa Lions Rock Hotel surprises me each time I visit there, the staff amongst the friendliest I have ever met. the rooms scattered amidst a large garden setting, I personally feel that the garden needs a bit more caring but on its own it's tranquil. Rooms are spacious and provides all basic amenities for a couple of nights stay even for a family. Good outlet is good with a variety of local and international dishes. Mostly buffet but if the house count is low expect a set menu. It's a good hotel for you to be based and visit Habarana, Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Minneriya, Kaudulla, Ritigala areas.. Also is a good stop on the way if you are traveling towards the east like Pasikudah.

Kassapa Lions Rock is located off the beaten path. You have to turn out of the main road and drive a few kilometers in the middle of nowhere. Once you arrive, you will enter a large yard that has vegetalbe gardens around. The rooms are also separated into one, two or three units per building similar to the setup at Palm Garden. Land must be abundant here.

Rooms are spacious. Sheets and bathrooms are clean. You will enjoy a nice quiet sleep. Breakfast is served at 6:45 with plenty of choices to eat.

It was raining when we arrived and the porters had umbrellas handy and they were ready and took us to our rooms all secured.

My mattress squeaked! Water was not hot on the shower, only warm. The shower area looked like bare cement and could use some painting.

Very clean and quite resort for holidays. Lots of greenery good, good cottages, and surrounded by typical srilankan village. In fact Sigiriya is a village area and near by very good village safari and massage parlours. The rooms are spacious and clean, excellent food(Breakfast and dinner), good swimming pool, etc. Siteseeing like lions rock, Dambulla or anuradhapura are within half an hour to one hour reach. Room services are good and very warm welcome. One should spent 2-3 days at this spot to enjoy the stay.

Great pool, super food buffet, clean clean rooms, spotless linens, very quiet, what more could you want. Service was excellent (our AC was having a problem when we arrived, and two technicians fixed it within 10 minutes of our contact with the front desk). When we arrived, we received a yummy sweet fruit juice in the lobby, and there was a fresh fruit platter in our room. Our room was spacious - our own little cottage, with a huge 4 piece bathroom. Loved staying here. We expected bugs in the open air restaurant, but there were none.

The place is located in a village which is 8km away from lion rock. You could see it when you're staying aside swimming pool. The whole resort is splited as serveral individual small buildings.Atomoshpere is very good.

The only problem is the bathroom desgin. It has open roof. In clear weather, it's good to see the sky when you're showering. But when it rains, opps, it's really a problem.

FYI, tutu cost to Lionrock is double mkt price. And when we get back to resort to take our luggage, it's easy to get on a bus pass-by to Kandy directly.
