“Paradise in Kandy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

As I have traveled lots of remote places of the world I have come to accept any accommodation as better than nothing. This wonderful apartment in tropical Kandy was one of my biggest surprises ever on any travels. Beautiful views in a quite hilly area close to the lake and other attractions. With a beautifully clean swimming pool for private use I was convinced that this is the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. It has aircon and two double beds (enough place for 4 to 5 people to stay comfortably. Dr Aruna personally came to greet us and Chanaka was very helpful. Make a note to stay there whenever in Sri Lanka. You would not be disappointed!!

I stayed here for 17 nights. The whole place has recently had a revamp and 3 new rooms added.Anura(the owner) and the 2 young men (Chanaka and Prem) that run it couldn`t have been more helpful and friendly.
With the comfy seating areas its a good place to meet like minded travellers.
It was a bit dusty and grubby around the edges when I stayed but there was building work taking place.
If you don`t want to venture out at night Chanaka will order a take away from a local restaurant or Pizza Hut deliver.
Its a lovely homely place to just sit around and watch the monkeys go by and relax.
The walk into town takes about 30 mins and there are plenty of good places to eat.
I`d certainly go back again.

I tried to get into Days Inn during my first trip to Kandy, but they were fully booked. Luckily, they had a spot for me during my second stay. This was one of my best guest house experiences, and a great option for budget travelers.

The rooms were a good size, clean and freshly painted, with aircon, tv, hot water, and free wfi. A nice breakfast is served for only 250 rupees.

What I really liked was the vibe. There's a great seating area on the veranda to meet people and the staff is super friendly. In fact, they went out of their way several times to accommodate guests. They even arranged excursions for me around the city.

I would stay here again and highly recommend it. Just be sure to secure your stay by booking in advance!

Room Tip: All the rooms have been renovated in March 2012. The bathrooms are all modern.

We stayed at the apartment which was very comfortable. We had our own swimming pool and the area was very quiet. The staff were very friendly and we had a nice time there.

My self and my wife booked the apartment for two days recently. We were really fascinated with the stuff they had in there. A table tennis table, a king sized bed, a swimming pool right in front were just a couple of them. since it was just the two of us it was quite calming and pretty private to say the least. they even drop you to town and collect you from town when you call them so theres somewhat a free transportation.
I went through some of the comments written and as a sri lankan am quite used to mosquitoes but frankly speaking this place was the least infested around the area. We talked to the host Dr Dantanarayana who seems to be a very pleasant and joyful man who knows quite a bit of history about the area. He even drew us a map to go and see the historical sites around. The staff too were quite friendly just like the owner.
Anyways the apartment we stayed at was well worth the price.

Room Tip: Get the apartment.

Booked this hotel looking at some of the reviews. This place is off the busy city streets where it gets quite dark at night. Not much to do in the evenings and this place is way too secluded in the hills. The swimming pool was muddy due to some landslide. The room was spacious but the toilets were not well vantilated. Due to monkeys in the visitiny it was not advisable to keep windows open during the day, likewise they had to be shut at night due to mosquitoes and other insects, hence gets stuffy. Kitchen items are most rusty and Fridge not been clean for ages.

Room Tip: Stay there only if you have a large group and not interested in any sightseeing

We are about 1.4 KM from the Kandy city center. We never advertised that we are in the city center. We provide free pick up from the city and drop the guest in town free of charge.

We stayed here for one night when we arrived in Kandy. The room we were given was in poor condition; dead mosquitos on the bed, windows that wouldnt shut properly and a huge gaping hole in the bathroom for anyone to look through and insects/mosquitos to come through.
There were these odd lime green tiles cemented to the roof and the decor was quite of out date. Could definitely do with a little revamping.

Too bad if the Guest feel that way. Probably the Guest might had bad experience with one of our staff members or something. Anyway we have rectified the issue. Recently we have done a lot of changes in the rooms and facilities.
