A lovely and interesting old house, beautifully restored in tropical gardens. very good food and attentive staff. Good facilities, easy to play the 'memsahib' for a couple of days.
Jungly sounds all around .
We were there for a special festival - lots of early morning temple chanting in the distance.

Brilliant.

Wonderful pool with beautiful rain forrest surroundings- lots of large fruit bats living and flying around in the tree tops.

Excellent service and good food.

I would suggest at least 3 nights to relax and see local/ quite-local sights.

This is such a special place.
As there was only 2 rooms occupied while we were there, it was really like a home away from home.

Nestled in a rural area, 25 minutes drive from Kandy, this historic house is really full of charm.
Don't worry about the distance from the city, the ride in tuktuk is very fast and pleasant.
Coming back to the house after a day spent in the busy Kandy was like heaven...

The architecture is wonderful. The common parts are beautifully decorated around a magnificent atrium. Perfect swimming pool and garden.

The food was really good, specially the breakfast (amazing egg hopper!), and the presence of a butler is a nice touch.

We stayed in the Black Rajah room but had a look at all the other rooms. I must say that if I come back, I would not choose the Black Rajah again.
We found the design a little bit too modern for the house and the open bathroom with the toilet isn't so convenient.

We didn't had noise problems as we were almost the only people there, but our room was next to the bar which is not ideal.

I would advise to choose a room on the upper floor (the indian admiral for example).

But I can't recommend this property highly enough as it's just a magical place.

Room Tip: Upper floor room

Want to check out ultimate colonial luxury in the Sri Lanka jungle? This is the place! Great service, wonderful rooms, and very good food and drinks! It's not cheap, but worth the price. Sleeping in good beds, listening to the jungle sounds as well as a mosque and a temple in the distance - exotic and a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Highly recommended. Excellent food, relaxing tropical garden oasis, very nice historic property with character (not tacky as one review said, quirky in places in a good way). Friendly young staff.

Small things to improve would be; serve the water in jugs (not a plastic bottle on the table) to give justice to the fantastic cooking. Don't use tea bags for tea, some guests were asking for fresh tea leaves and rightly so being in tea country! Replace any mosquito nets in the rooms that have holes in them (ours had two).

We stayed here for 2 nights and unfortunately it wasn't long enough.....we didn't want to leave.
The Kandy House is a wonderful oasis worth the short journey out of town.
All the staff are delightful. Special Thanks to our butler, Pradeep. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we felt totally cared for.
Staying here is like staying in a good friends home.
Excellent accommodation and delicious food.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Indian Admiral which was good but also liked the Black Rajah

Lovely gardens and pool. Great food and service. Not cheap but we felt worth the extra cost. Great attention to detail. It is a 20 minute ride into Candy. We would recommend Candy House as lovely place to stay.
