“Kandy Stay”

Perfect base for exploring Kandy and the sites of Sigiriya and Dambulla which are doable in a day. Hotel is in peaceful location with stunning views. Volker, Mahesh and staff were friendly and happy to help with our requests. Need to tuk-tuk into Kandy but this is under five minutes away.

A beautiful villa in an outstandingly beautiful location. The views are unparalleled. The rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. The staff could not do enough to help. I cannot recommend this place enough.

This was our first stop in Sri Lanka and we were tossing up whether to stay in Kandy town or on the outskirts for nicer scenery. As we had a driver we opted for the latter and stayed at villa rosa and so glad we did. This location was amazing, with a view over the river and forests which was covered in mist every morning. The villa is like the sort of place you would love to retire in. It is intimate but no so that you feel like you are in the pockets of other guests. There are three friendly resident dogs, a place to get Ayuverdic treatment on site (recommend!) and the dinners are authentic Sri Lankan. If you don't have a driver not a big deal, only 5-10 mins drive out of town for tuks tuks, I wouldn't let this be a reason not to stay at Villa Rosa, the view trumps any down sides... (P.s. If you love birds like my mum, a great place just to sit out and watch/photograph the wildlife)

We felt welcomed & at home as soon as we entered this stylish guest house. Our room was spacious, comfortable & clean we stunning views of the surrounding countryside and river. The traditional Sri Lankan curries were outstanding and the staff and owner went out of their way to make our stay special.

Villa Rosa is a delightful place to stay in Kandy, situated at the top of the hill over looking the river. It is extremely comfortable, the staff are charming and the food is absolutely excellent. It is set in lovely gardens and is beautiful and relaxing. We were there for two nights and wished it could have been longer.
The room we had was spacious and although there was no air-conditioning there are windows on both sides of the room so ventilation was perfect. We personally prefer to be able to open the windows!
The Villa is extremely well run by the German owner who was very much around and very cordial and the staff are all so helpful and friendly. We returned very late from the Perahara - nearly 1am and felt a bit hungry so they said they would bring some biscuits. A few minutes later a tray of hot buttered toast arrived because the biscuits had run out ...... so much nicer and we were touched that they didn't just say, no biscuits!

Room Tip: Our room was upstairs to the left of the main entrance at the end of the corridor with outside seati...

With an amazing view of the river and hills, comfy beds and fab curry, this place made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Staff is very kind and mindful. The Ayurvedic massage will make you feel brand new.
One point to consider is that it is a steep climb up to the villa but our van made it up so should not be a big deal.

Villa Rosa is hidden away at the top of a hill overlooking the river in Kandy. Views are spectacular and the rooms and communcal areas are spacious. We ate out on a balcony overlooking the river and could have been in our own property such was the feeling of privacy. The team are well trained, food good and lots of advice is available from the German owner. The hotel has a tuk-tuk and van to get you in to the centre (free of charge). A great base from which to explore Kandy and its surrounds.
