Myself and my husband spent 2 nights at this hotel whilst on our honeymoon exploring Sri Lanka. Met by a lovely guest relations lady who was just so friendly. Given cold towels and a juice drink on arrival. As it was our honeymoon, we were Also given a 50% off voucher to use in the spa.
Room was lovely with a pool view. Clean with everything you could need. We didn't have any hand towels in our bathroom but this was rectified quickly when requested.
I used my spa voucher to have a papaya body wrap. It was pouring with rain outside so thought I would treat myself. Actual treatment was lovely. Spa very nice but only thing I would say is that I was quite cold when having my treatment as the air con on wet skin.
Still used the pool despite the heavy rain! Only ones in it.... Lovely pool area. There were some frogs in the pool due to the rain.... Staff offered to remove them but didn't bother us so let them be.
Breakfast Buffett really nice ..... Again, like other hotels, no vegetarian sausages as I'm veggie. Evening dinner is Buffett style . Our first evening we were given a complimentary huge cocktail to share as it was our honeymoon. Staff very attentive.
2nd evening, we were seated and then went up to get our starters. My husband returned to our table before me to find a Sri Lankan tour guide sat at our table! My husband approached a member of staff and they were like 'oh some Sri Lankan people just do as they please'. Not very helpful. On approach by my husband and another staff member, he didn't want to move! Why was he allowed to sit at our table?!! My handbag was across the chair too. There were loads of empty tables and he should have been moved as soon as he sat down. He eventually moved. I returned with my starter to find my husband in conversation with a member of staff a little way away so had no idea at that point what had happened. Ended up eating on my own. Handled poorly by staff who didn't really get they he should never have been seated at our table.
Food was nice. As a vegetarian, one lovely chef helped my choose my food as I also cannot eat spicy food.
Had a cocktail in the bar next to the restaurant . Was offered a special cocktail of the day at a low introductory price. On presentation of the bill it was more expensive as tax etc added on..... The manager rectified this though.
Overall a lovely stay. Quite far away to anywhere to walk to as we do enjoy a walk and exploring. Didn't really matter as heavy rain anyway do just walked to the bridge to see the river.
Free wifi but only in reception area and restaurant.... Shame you cannot get it in your rooms.
Would recommend this hotel.
