An interesting architecture, good breakfast, friendly staff - we have spent 2 nights here and we can only recommend it, it was lovely! ith a Tuktuk it iseasy to get downtown and everything was nice here. We would go there again.

I booked 5 rooms on 23th Jan 2014 for my family members,
There were 5TVs but not a even one TV is working.
we also had some issues with water heaters.
rooms are ok, clean
place is decent and calm.
mistake I did here is, I paid the full amount at the time of booking.. so service is not to the expected level.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was neat & clean though Colonial in style. The Nature of the Forest nearby brings the crickets and their synchronizing noise, which we recorded for our research of nature's synchronicity. Tours were organized by the Manager to the Botanic Gdns., Elephant Orphanage, Meditation, Ayurvedic Treament, Knuckles Mountain Range. It was great and we had a lot of fun with the owners who stand out of the caliber of people running hotels in Kandy, Sigiria & the east coast. We recommend Sunray for budget accommodation with pool, gym and TT.

Room Tip: ask for rooms with a private balcony

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Sunray, Kandy in January 2014. This is a hotel where you are treated like family and not like a guest. The hotel is run by Mr.Sarath Ratnayake and family and they are the kindest and most helpful family we have ever met. The hotel is in a quiet location where you can relax and enjoy the sights from the balcony which is built in front of all the rooms and it also backs into Udawattekele Sanctuary. The food at Hotel Sunray is delicious and the staff is most obliging and the rooms are extremely comfortable with en suite bathrooms. It is also in close proximity to the Kandy town and it is easy to travel around Kandy. We will definitely go back to this hotel and also recommend it to our friends. We are looking forward to another stay at this hotel and meeting the wonderful Ratnayake family. Everyone should try out this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the pool

We stayed at this hotel for one night and our room was horrible - and we are not picky people. The rooms are really gross. There were dead bugs, pubes ,and hair on the bed, as well as stains of different colors. The bed sheets were damp and look like they haven't been washed in a month. The pillows were old and lumpy. They were reluctant to give us towels when asked, and the ones that we got had brown spots all over them so we didn't end up using them. I guess if you like CSI and if you like figuring what happened in the room you should stay here.
