“Thanks For A Very Pleasant Stay, Susie's Cooking Was Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Our family of 3 enjoyed our 2 day stay here. We stayed in the family suite. Nice cozy atmosphere, lots of character, great surrounding greenry & full of life!
Susie's was cooking up lots of amazing dishes, fresh from the kitchen garden. Great breakfasts & Bhathiya works very hard to provide great customer service. He was very helpful & provided us with lots of knowledge/ info regarding Sri Lanka. Kandy, Temple of The Tooth was grand enough for us to return one day, we would definitely come back & stay here. We miss the evening meals here! Good luck with the community projects being helped by our stays! Take care Friends.

Room Tip: All Good, Especially the Eco-Cottage!!

Bhathiya and Suzy Ratwatte have a gem of a B&B operation. The house has been in Bhathiya's family for over 100 years. Rooms are large and comfortable, furnished with chairs, sofas, tables and of course double and/or single beds. Bathrooms are large with the usual amenities. The hosts are generous with their time and are always ready to stop what they are doing and have a chat with you. Bhathiya is extremly knowledgeable in the history of Kandy. Breakfast is good and Suzy is ready to cook lunch and dinner if you request it. She is a great cook.
I would recommend this hotel for both price and hospitality.

This was a perfect place to stay after the noise and traffic in Kandy. The greenery is lovely and the food even better. But the best part are the owners. They are kind, warm and welcoming. Would absolutely stay there again!

Room Tip: We had the room in the house but the mud hut looked great too.

I highly recommend the Kandyan Manor. During our travel in Sri Lanka, it was the best place we stayed at. We slept there 2 nights and I wished we would have stayed one week!

The location is perfect because it is outside the bustling city of Kandy but close enough to go there within 10 minutes by 3 wheelers.

The atmosphere is cosy, the rooms are large, clean and simply but tastefully furnished. The dinner area is perfect for relaxation with a view on the nice and quiet garden.

The owners are really welcoming and helpful. They try their best to attend to guests ‘needs. They take in charge the organization of journeys around Kandy and up to the north to visit the ancient temples. They give good advice on how to organize your time in Kandy.

I have special thanks to Suzie. She is really attentive, gentle and such a good cooker! All the vegetables and fruits are grown on their land. We had our best rice & curry at this place (I still dream about the eggplants and dhal).

If you looking for somewhere quiet, relaxing with true Hospitality with a Capital H ,go no further . We arrived from Colombo at 4am in the morning to be greeted by our hosts Bhathiya and Suzy ,we hit the bed and on awaking at around 10am were treated to breakfast and a magnificent view along with feeling like you had stepped out of the Time Machine . Being lovers of old world we knew we had chosen well ... A tuk was arranged to do some sights and he become our trusted steed for the short time we had in Kandy . Meals at night were homely and tasty ..a great introduction to Sinhalese cuisine.
Nothing was too much and we felt that we had become part of the Family . Our only regret was we had not realised we should have booked in for longer than 3 nights ...Even our train tickets were booked for our train trip back ....And yes do yourself a favour and catch the train (1st class with wi fi) back to Colombo if heading that way . This is one place i cannot stop raving about .....As Árnies Famous quote 'We WILL BE Back' !!!!
It is an old house so be prepared for old style fitting ..but who cares and oh i would give the local Massage option a miss ......And it is a way out of town but this is the best of Homestay you will find !!

Room Tip: Ask for a cabana but the house is great ......

Paul and Frances From Melbourne Australia. We stayed three nights and had the most wonderful
time. Nothing was too much for our hosts who made sure we were comfortable. Bhathiya even arranged for my car to be taken to a local mechanic after it lost the alternator belt. Their home is rich with history and very comfortable. We are looking forward to our return trip
