Everything about this hotel spelled “Colonial” as the owner has successfully kept and maintained all the original fixtures, fittings and furniture from the 1920’s. Even our room key was the original key. The only modern part in this hotel were the bathrooms which my wife appreciated of course.
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. For the price, it was value. The whole hotel gives you a feeling that you are colonial movie with Gregory Peck and Gandhi as main characters. And yes, they both stayed here before. In fact the desk in the room Gandhi stayed in is the same one the leader wrote on.
The Mansion has a ground floor and an upper floor. There are no lifts but they do have rooms on the ground floor - book in advance.
As you reach the hotel, huge gates open up to acres of land which makes up The Mansion. The surroundings were a nature’s blessing. The manager walked with us explaining each fruit tree they had. The grounds overlook a Padi field.
Do note that this hotel and its surroundings is very quiet and peaceful without the usual hussle and bussle of a town hotel. So relaxation is the only agenda for the day here. .
