Excellent rooms, warm people, great view from the rooms, well stocked mini bar, good clean and spacious bathrooms with complimnetary toileteries and hot water available throughout the day and night...

stayed at the hotel from Dec 1, 2012 to Dec 4, 2012 as a couple for our honeymoon. Hotel situated right at the beach..were tired after the drive from colombo international airport. the reception people were very warm..we were asked to take a seat and they found out the prior booking made. Checkin was hassle free..room had a balcony with the view of the ocean and the swimming pool..there was a party playing loud music but was shut at 11:30 pm. food was ok...very limited options for pure vegeterians though..

we changed our room the next day and were given the corner room suite..again great room..check out was hassle free..overall whenever we are back in SriLanka would definitely be in this hotel..special mention for Ms. Dinushka who took all the possible steps to make us gfeel comfortable..three cheers for the team Chaaya Tranz..

Right now writing this review from St. Andrews Jeting, Nuwara Eliya..just checked in...would review once i leave this place..by the 1st looks not as good at Chaaya Tranz...

Room Tip: stayed in two rooms..both were good..316 and 301...301 is the corner suite..excellent and better tha...

Stayed at this hotel in November 2012. The hotel is fantastic, the beach very small, but clean and nice. The selection of food is very rich and it is also very tasty. The rooms are clean, comportable and all of them have an excellent view! We booked a standard room, but my husband is allergic to smells and he felt bad due to the smell of dampness from the air conditioner. The hotel offered the two-roomed suite and we agreed. It had a big balcony and nice decor.
My experience would have been more high if the staff was hospitable.. I had a feeling the staff is not interested in its clients at all. I have asked the receptionist to bring me an adaptor for 5 times by the phone, my husband went downstairs twice, but received only a general reply of "we will bring it in a minute". In the end 1.5 hour has passed and we got it. It had been a grea disappointment...

I would also like to point out the Crab restaurant in the hotel. It is one of the best restaurants I have ever been into. The food is fantastic!!! And the staff is hospitable, friendly and very quick. Do not fail to try the crab!!!

We rented property in Ambalangoda but could find no decent restaurants so ended up each day hiring a tuk-tuk to take us along the main road to the Chayaa Tranz Hotel - about a 30 minute white knuckle ride but well worth it (even in dark)!

The setting is magnificent being on the beach. If you are non-resident then you have this somewhat strange routine of having to go to reception to pay for the buffet and collect an appropriate coupon - but well worth it! The range of food on offer is terrific and the quality is excellent. At about £10 per person this represents very good value for money. A bonus is that having paid for the buffet you get free WiFi access.

If you have time visit Super Jewels shop just a few minutes away. They have the most amazing jewellery items at very competitive prices. The quality of the items is excellent and the staff are incredibly helpful. We chose a pendant but this required a small modification to accommodate the snake chain we had - they made the required changes to our satisfaction at no additional charge - a true gem!!

We found everything perfect at this resort. The view from our private balcony overlooking the
pool and beach was amazing. With the daybed and table and chairs it was a perfect spot
to watch the amazing sunsets. the buffet breakfast was the best and catered to every nationality.
You could even get hoppers which is rare unless pre ordered. There are plenty of little beach cafes along the beach if eating in a resort doesnt suit. The bus stops right outside the resort so
is very easy to get around without a driver to visit Galle or other beaches. Also right across the road is a bottle shop and great book exchange. The room has a fridge and tea and coffee making so with the shops nearby you dont have to pay resort prices for wine or beer. we had dinner at the resort on my birthday and the staff sang happy birthday and gave me a beautiful cake! The fantastic staff and snokelling with the turtles in front of resort made this our favourite stay by far.

Room Tip: The view from top floor is amazing

Lovely beach front location with very friendly and helpful staff. View from the room overlooking the ocean and beach was impressive. Many options available to be relaxed. Especially I loved the pool and the large private balcony.

*** Even I booked the Deluxe room they gave me the Suite.

Room Tip: Right corner suite is large and good overlooking the ocean.

My partner and I stayed in this hotel and I must say we were both very disappointed. The hotel has great potential as the rooms and location are good but the staff ruined the whole experience. I have never experienced such a disinterested bunch of employees. It started when we arrived- we were standing in the entrance hall for about 10 mins about 5 hotel staff around us but being totally ignored. After we checked in no one cared about our luggage- eventually we went downstairs and carried it up ourselves. Our request to fix our tv which did not work was also totally ignored. We only got it fixed the next day after reminding the reception and becoming a bit sharp. Even the rooms were not as clean as you would expect them to be. There was dust all over the rooms, esp when we moved the two single beds, after having booked a double room, a floor with years old dust appeared. Furthermore, we could not lock the balcony door at all- the lock was rusty and did just not work. Arriving at breakfast all tables were full of dirty dishes. After cleaning a table ourselves staff kept walking by ignoring us for tea and coffee. Also, do not leave your food alone on the table as the crows would fly by to pick on it and none of the many close by staff would react to this. Being around the pool staff would not offer sunbed mattresses themselves when we were picking up towels.

In fairness the breakfast buffet was nice with a good choice of foods and the only friendly staff member seems to be the guy at the waffle stand. We also liked the balcony with sea view and the turtles coming to the beach.

We really do not consider ourselves difficult clients but definitely expected much more of this place considering the price. We think either the staff is terribly underpaid or the management is failing badly. We think the staff needs to be retrained in basic customer service skills, paid more or replaced. You can find better service for a fraction of the price elsewhere.

Reviewing this hotel as still residing in Room No 119. The Check In was quick and Malsha at front desk was very helpful to get us the room of our choice inspite the hotel being full.

This Hotel i believe has one of the best location and a superb pool overlooking the ocean... Tried the buffet dinner the spread and preperation was quiet impressive and the staff was always ready to help with a smiling face.

And lastly thank you Mr.Chiminda - Resident Manager for the extended hospitality.....

Spa and breakfast not yet tried hence cannot comment but i am sure that it would be at par to the other services offered
