“brilliant creatures to go and see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We had booked a trip to go there however the trip decided to pick us up AFTER going there so we went in a taxi instead.
We arrived and we were able to hold tiny 1day old turtles and the purred if you stroked their heads. I also held a larger turtle. Without us going there the place wouldnt stay open as it is purely funded by visitors.
I would highlylrecommend going as you can be hands on better then a zoo, its cheap to get to by taxi and its in the shade.

“Amazing experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

A small ride from central areas and a small setup, this was a great way to spend 800Rs. and a couple hours. The lady behind the cash box spoke English fairly well and guided us around the few cement tanks to show us babies that had just hatched, rescued/recovering turtles, adults soon to be released and endangered species. She even picked up different turtles (twice the size of a dinner plate) and let us hold it/take pictures with it. We got to craddle the babies and learn about their life span/enviroment and issues facing these creatures. It did not feel like a tourist trap or a terrible cash grab, a majority of the funds go back to helping save the turtles from poachers/extinction.

“Good Work”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Great to see some good conservation work going on here! Great to see tiny turtle babies and you can hold one too if you want. Amazing to see how much stronger they get in just a few days.

There were also some injured turtles kept permanently at the hatchery. I felt pretty sad to see them as their pools a really quite small but they would die very quickly in the wild.

“Nice experience and cheap ticket price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

We were briefed about the turtles and their details and a bit of the history of the place and shown different types of turtles at different ages. My little one wanted to stay more time with the 1-2 days old turtle pond. It was pretty amazing a big bunch of 1 day old turtles swimming around. And ticket was just 30 rupees for locals and it is very cheap.

“Very interesting and moving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

It's very interesting to learn about their project and to see the mini turtels being only 1, 2 or 3 days old in their pools.
