“One of our best hotels in Sri Lanka”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

We stayed in this resort for 3 nights. The room was large and nice. The hotel has a nice swimming pool and a very nice garden. We had dinner and the food was good.We would like to come again. When the hotel is not full they serve only continental breakfest.
They should add more lights on the way to the rooms at night.

Was very disappointed by this hotel as it looked so fancy, but it was far from it. Our bedroom was not cleaned, and I doubt the sheets were changed from the previous guest, as there was hair on the bed, as well as stains! The floor was dusty and had not be cleaned recently, and there were dead insects and dust everywhere... Upon complaining the room was cleaned again, but the improvement was minimal. We absolutely loved the cuisine in Sri Lanka, but the food was terrible, both dinner and breakfast...

I have stayed at the Thilanka Resorts and Spa twice - thats how much I loved it. Excellent big rooms, authentic Sri Lankan food served in buffet style and a very relaxing ayurvedic spa. The staff is very helpful and hospitable.
The resort is on a vast mango orchard and most of the vegetables they cook are grown on the property. There is a river that flows behind it, very serene and calm surroundings. If you are traveling to Sri Lanka and are visiting Dambulla to see the world famous Golden Temple, then Thilanka resorts and spa is the place to stay. I would recommend it :)

I went there with my family and cousins for one night. They had a large fruit plantation and Mango Trees were everywhere. At the end of the Property they had a Cricket Pitch and a small River which was awesome. Dinner was a buffet and had western + sri lankan food as well. The rooms were clean and had a jacuzzi also. The pool was not that deep and the view for the pool was nice. The Spa was well maintained, the therapist was very kind and knew what he was doing.

Room Tip: Get a room far away from the Lobby and i liked the upstairs rooms.

Thilanka hotel was the second hotel we stayed on our tour of Sri Lanka, arranged by Red Dot tours. We were suitably impressed on arrival as the grounds are very large and necessitated a rickshaw to carry us and our bags from the car park - which was quite good fun, the young 'driver' being very cheery. Our room was very large, with a balcony overlooking the grounds. All being very modern in polished grey cement, including the bathroom. The room and bathroom were clean with fluffy white towels. There was an outdoor hot tub but we never got round to using it, we just enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the evening heat, watching the little lizards dart about and listening to all the sounds of wildlife outside. We enjoyed our evening meal and tried the hoppers for breakfast the next day (very nice), the fruit juice was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all we had a nice stay for 2 nights, but I wouldn't like to stay longer as it was a bit far from Dumbulla centre.

Room Tip: We stayed in an upstairs room which had a nice, private balcony overlooking the gardens.

We stayed here for two nights while on a cycling tour. Lovely setting with an amazing fruit plantation and cricket pitch set behind the pool Large clean bedroom with good towels and toiletries. Dinner was a buffet each night and was tasty and filling. Nice bar and pool for relaxing. The spa was moderate, served its purpose. In all, very clean hotel with pleasant staff and location good for Unesco sites.
