“Great Hospitality in an Exotic Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Could not have asked for a better start to my honeymoon trip ,stayed in a Suite for a night on 3 May 2013.
Had booked more than a month in advance from the official amaya website and since it is supposed to be the OFF season so got a good deal.
Amaya lake is located a few KMs away from Dambulla Town in an awesome lush green surroundings adjoining the beautiful lake.
very well maintained property with very courteous and always ready to help staff.
we stayed in a suite which was a pure bliss in itself with delicate decorations and cozy interiors.a complimentary fruit basket and a wine added to the charm of the evening for us.
the highlight of the suite has to be the tempting Plunge pool which one cannot resist jumping into.
overall it was a mesmerizing stay thanks to the very courteous staff.

the only deficiency was the lack of movie collections which we could not obtain..but at the same time at such an awesome setting we did not miss it.

Room Tip: book in advance from the amaya lake website go for the suite its worth the extra penny especially if...

Hotel is good and having lot of land area. Nice green surroundings and superb views near the lake. Food was OK and the main concern was the rooms we stayed were little far from the main restaurant, pool, lake, etc... So we hardly had a good view for the rooms. Better to go for a lake view rooms or with some better view. TV of the room was horribly wrongly placed and hardly seeing that from the bed. Another concern was that there was a wedding function happened on that day which was pretty noisy and sound was disturbing to the guests. Staff was good and pretty helpful.

Room Tip: Go for rooms with a good view. Do not take the far end rooms.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel. We had 2 challets one for us one for the kids, and had a great experience. The hotel is very friendly , everything - food, the staff , pool and large green areas, give you a nice "welcome" to Sri Lanka. Not in many places you get such a special and green hotel to enjoy ! Rooms are confortable and clean.

Our honey moon stay at Amaya Lake was superb. Our Deluxe room was fantastic and the accessories were well planned and arranged. The staff and their service was excellent and the full body massage at the Spa refreshed us.

Our anniversary stay most probably will be at Amaya Lake , Dambulla

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are really good and reasonable too.

Stayed here for 3 nights and used it as a base to explore Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and Minneriya National Park.
Rooms are semi-detached or individual villas, which is great when you have young children (which we do) and you are conscious of the noise they make. There were mainly couples staying during our time.
There is a great pool and the restaurant does buffet for breakfast and dinner (the a la carte menu wasn't impressive).
The resort is on the edge of a lake/reservoir, which was a lovely to use for some early morning exercise.
The staff were very helpful, attentive and charming.

We stayed there 3 nights in a lovely small villa located in a beautiful and well tended garden. The lobby with open bar and restaurant is nicely decorated. The pool is big and there are deck chairs to be used. Unfortunately, the deck chairs are made out of wood and very uncomfortable and no cushions are provided. We were disappointed about the food, the choice is poor and the buffet didn't meet our expectations.
