“Feel like at home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

This is a great and lovely family guesthouse, that makes you feel like you are at home. Caring family, clean room with hot water in fair price. You must try the great dinner, it's the best rice and curry we ate in Sri Lanka. We planned on staying for one day but we stayed more. we fall in love with this family. We will come again for sure!

It's really good to find this G.H in Dambulla, clean, dinner is very good, location is good, it's feel like in the forest. we enjoyed 3 days in very relaxing time and exploring Anuradnapura, Polonaruwa & Dambulla.

People here is really friendly to guide you to take bus, asking road and always smiling.
really enjoy our trip here.

Room Tip: Take bus is really interesting experience, you must try it.

Really friendly welcome to their house. It is just of the main road and therefore nice and quiet. Only a 10 minute walk to the cave temple.
The room was clean and the dinner was delicious!

All together this is a great place to stay!

We had two really nice day at the golden rainbow inn. The people were very friendly and they had great food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The place is a bit further from the main road so that makes it nice and quiet.

The owner is really friendly nice guy who really tries his best to give you the best possible stay.

Room Tip: The room was very big, and we had a fan. The tempeture in that area was that warm so, a fan is more...

We stayed for two nights in November. We contacted Kumara before we left and organized airport pickup. He was extremely reasonable. We asked Kumara to be our driver for the next three days. Kumara was always very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The guest house was basic but we had everything we needed and the room was clean.Kumara's wife is a fabulous cook and we ate at the guesthouse on both nights. I can highly recommend the guesthouse and Kumara as a driver and car.

This place was a great find! Like us, most visitors had been direced here by the owner's brother, Sajith who is an excellent Tuk tuk driver. As a Tuk tuk river he wasn't pushy and because of this and his politeness we decided to take a look.

The Inn lies down a jungle track next to the mountain. The surrounds are quiet and full of jungle life, being very tranquil far from the main road. Other local dwelings can be seen distantly through the trees. Monkeys will sit quietly watching as you eat breakfast. The breakfasts are fully satisfying with fruit, toast and eggs. The lunches and dinners are as good as you can get in the best restaurants consisting of several specially prepared vegetable dishes, meat and rice. The aroma and flavours of spices tantalise your palate with every mouthful. Indeed it was too much to eat both the lunch and dinner and you could never finish off the dishes laid out in the evening. Kumara's wife is an excellent cook and he is an excellent host.

Trips to Dambulla Temple caves (5 mins), Sigiriya, Polunawara, and a choice of wildlife parks can be made easily from this beautiful, friendly base.

Get here by train from Colombo to Kandy and then a choice of bus trips for the most enjoyable means of transport. Otherwise you can fly from Colombo to Dambulla, hire a minivan or call Kumara for his new air con mini bus.

Internet access and beer available.

Room Tip: The upper room with the balcony is large and with optional air con, but the fan was sufficient. th...

I stayed here for 2 nights and had no problems finding the place as the owner, Kumara, picked me up from the bus stop in his tuk-tuk.
The place is owned by a young family and are relatively new to the business and as such are eager to please and although they are still learning have an enthusiasm to making sure your stay is a good one.
Kumara's wife cooked me up a couple of tasty dinners of noodles one day and fried rice the next. although the breakfasts were fairly basic, they were no different to most similar guest houses.
Kumara had recently bought a mini-van and took me on a trip to Sigiriya and Polannaruwa. He was a knowledgable and patient driver and guide and provided some good extra information about each location.
I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a value for money place to stay to look around the region.
