“BEST OUT OF THE BEST”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

This was my second stay at MPS Village with my friend and his family on last month and it was a wonderful stay. The welcome we received on the arrival took the tiredness away as we were greeted with smile and a cold papaya juice and were shown to a nice room. The best budget hotel and has been very consistent with their excellent service standards. Quality of the food is excellent. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I am strongly recommend this hotel to everyone who is willing to experience the best out of the best.

After reading comments from other people I think we just had a bad experience, we only stayed for 1 night. Rooms were comfortable, clean. Dinner was good, was unable to have breakfast has it wasn't ready in time and we had a long day ahead of us so we had to leave by 7.30am.

I have stayed at MPS twice and it is a beautiful setting with rooms overlooking peaceful lake. excellent staff, cleanliness and service. restaurant very good. Only 10 minutes from the Golden Temple , 30k from Sigiriya and access to many attractions. Facilities in the town are extensive .
A large sports field and children's play area and very good swimming pool. Many birds to see on the lake . A really enjoyable experience.

Room Tip: Most rooms are near to the lake side but not near enough for mosquitos , rooms have private verand...

Only stayed here one night after a change to our plans but can't find fault with the hotel except it is a bit far from the town - 15/20 mins drive. Our rooms were in the upper floor of the new block and were faultless with a beautiful bathroom, big fridge, well appointed room, clean sheets and a great balcony to enjoy the sounds of nature after dark (especially if you visit the beer shop in Dambulla on your way to the hotel). Dinner was excellent with a good choice for all the family and they even gave us a second portion of pasta to satisfy our kids cravings for western food. Breakfast was again excellent with a wide selection even though there weren't many guests.

Pool was again superb with a cricket pitch that has to be one of the most beautiful we have ever seen.

Don't hesitate - just go!

Room Tip: New block of 4 apartments were faultless

Me and my wife came to MPS without knowing what to expect.

We were greeted with a smile and a cold papaya juice, and were shown to a nice room. The room's attached veranda was large with only 10m separating it from the resort's private pond/lake.
The resort also has a nice pool that is adjacent to the pond.
To top everything off the buffet breakfast is very tasty and super generous.
Special thanks to the super attentive staff and manager that make this resort an enjoyable experience from the first moment to the last.

We stayed for 1 night in a chalet room and was disappointed with the quality of our room. Having checked out all of our hotels on Tripadvisor before travelling we were expecting a lot more. The room was very basic and the bathroom was very tired with a leaky sink which left the floor soaked (nothing like the bathroom picture shown on here). The door to the patio area has a gap of about 3 centimeters at the bottom, through which we had a visit from a frog from the river.

Service in the restaurant was very slow at both dinner and breakfast and we had some issues being understood and ended up with some food which was not quite as described!

The location was beautiful and if we had a better room I'm sure it could have been a much better experience.

Room Tip: Avoid the chalet rooms as ours was very tired.
