“Five star experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

This hotel was recommended to us and we would visit Dambulla again just for this hotel. It is nicely clean and beautifully built with cool red floors. The swimming pool is a gem. Food in the restaurant is swiftly served and supertasty (both Western and Sri Lankan). Of course, there's wifi and all other amenities.
Strongly recommended!

Hotel is located at the northern end of town just off the busy road about which it has spread, so traffic noise is evident, particularly in the morning. However the hotel possesses extensive gardens and a large swimming pool that allow a degree of escape in the late afternoon after sightseeing. Rooms are large, comfortable and well equipped with satellite TV, a/c, toiletries and excellent showers. Restaurant provides an extensive menu and the 3 course dish of the day was very good value. Western dishes were biased towards meat and would have benefitted from more vegetables. Buffet breakfast provided an excellent range of Sri-Lankan and western-style cooked items as well as breads, cakes and fruits. All staff were courteous and efficient. All in all, the hotel represents excellent value.

Apart from the Cave Temples, which are spectacular in their imagery, the town of Dambulla has few attractions but it provides a good base to visit Sigiriya and allows onward travel if travelling by bus to other locations in the Cultural Triangle or south to Kandy.

Great en route hotel to stop over to Trincomalee. Good food a la carte. Good rice & curry. Large rooms. Lovely decor of hotel. Road nearby bit noisy as rooms near reception & road. Not bad at night though. Good value. Great wifi connection.

After reading the reviews, we decided to go with this hotel and we were definitely not disappointed!

In fact, this is the best hotel that we have stayed during our 8 day trip in Sri Lanka.

The receptionist was very friendly. WiFi was good. Full set of toiletries were provided. Most of the hotels / inns that we stayed in only provided us with a bar of hand soap.

There was even a kettle for us to boil water.

Breakfast was good besides the pool.

We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2012. Clean hotel with a nice pool next to the restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was good. For lunch they usually had a buffet and dinner you can order from the menu. We ate at the restaurant once. The other two nights we at a small restaurant not far away from the hotel (in walking distance). It was called the Travellers Stop - Chinese and Mexican Food. When you exit the hotel you turn right and walk about 5 minutes. The food was as good as if not better than in the hotel. The hotel food was good but afterwards you were still hungry.

Room Tip: If you need wi-fi the rooms closer to the reception have it.

I stayed two night at this place. I admit the reception area is a bit gloomy, but staff was very helpful, my room was spotless clean, tea, coffee, aircon, fan all in the room. The service was ok, restaurant facing the pool at the back. Yes, the road was very busy, but you have to keep the windows closed not to have mosquitos in, so you dont hear the sound of the traffic at night.

We ended up here after leaving an other shabby dirty guesthouse. Although the price was higher than other places we stayed everything was great. Nice clean rooms, friendly staff, good food and a nice pool.
