“Adequate but slightly overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2011

You'll be ok staying at the Hotel City, but don't despite its recent rennovation the hotel is nowhere near what you expect from central European standards.

I was allocated a room on the top floor, supposedly a junior suite but it was basically a very small room divided by a wall. On one side there was the bed with a worn-out sofa on the other. The bathroom was occupied by a monsterous jacuzzi style bath top which you needed an engineering degree to operate. There was no shower curtain (!) so if you just fancied a shower you'd soak the whole room.

The location is fine, in a quiet part of this extremely small town, only a ten minutes walk from the very centre. A taxi will set you back 2 euros, tops.

The staff was hit and miss, some happy and outgoing others introvert and rather miserable. Breakfast was ok, but nothing more. The staff seemed more occupied in chatting or standing about than clearing the tables or topping up the buffet.

For my next visit in Podgorica I'd probably test out another hotel. For 100-120 euros/night one could hope for something better.

I often travel to Podgorica for business, and I have tried many hotels. The CITY is definitely one of the best addresses for a stay in Podgorica.

Check-in procedure excellent, personalised and extremely quick (nice to have your passport given back at once).

Rooms are spacious and well equiped. Huge window, wide, king bedded, large desktop, mini bar, good tv set, free wireless, good wardrobe; bathroom with shower box (or jakuzzi if you choose apartment), huge mirrors, body care amenities. All areas are very clean and tidy.

Not such a wide range of foods for breakfast, I'd say average variety of hams, eggs, cheese, croissant, bread, also chopped fresh fruit that I liked. Staff is very friendly and professional.

Lobby with two tables seating, trees, TV and two ATMs and café restaurant.

There is a mini gym in the hotel with good equipment (Tehnogym) cardio and strenght.

It definitely has been a very pleasant stay, relaxing and comfortable.

I have to commend the reception team from the night shift and Mr. Slobodan with whom I often play chess (very good player, I have to admit:)

I would recommend this hotel.

I recently discovered the City hotel, since my other two favorite hotels in Podgorica (the Premier and Podgorica) were fully booked.

Hotel City is more affordably priced that the other two, and offers a modern but more somber accommodation in a less central part of town.

The hotel offers free wi-fi service in all rooms and has a number of spatious conference rooms. I believe that, during the summer, the large terrace is used to serve breakfasts and lunches.

The hotel is conveniently located near the main exit road from town, and is only a short drive (20mins) from the airport. Parking is free.

The outside of the hotel looks more modern and trendy than the rooms do. The bathrooms are a bit small and probably 20 years older than the exterior decor.

I have just returned from my first trip to Montenegro. Stayed at the City Hotel on business and was very pleased with the Hotel, very friendly staff throughout my stay.

The Hotel is about twenty minutes from the airport, near to the centre of the town however there was very little noise to disturb anyone overnight, my room faced the road.

The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable twin beds and a few chairs etc. A good en suite with a great shower unit. TV had a free view type system however English channels were limited to CNN and Nat Geo. Minibar was well stocked and not too pricey if you were tempted. A decent amount of storage space and effective air conditioning.

Breakfast was served from 6am to 10am. Reasonable selection of hot and cold buffet dishes. Outside is a decked area with snacks, drinks and meals available, again not too pricey. To the rear of the Hotel is a patio area with tables and seating areas.

In the basement are a few computers for general use, a very small gym is on the top floor.

It would have been great if the Hotel had a pool, there is plenty of space and it would make this a great hotel for everyone, not just business travellers which appears to be its target audience at the moment.

There are a great number of restaurants within a ten-twenty minute walk, we ate out every evening and never had a bad meal. At the moment the food and drink is very cheap (less than a Euro for a local beer in some places). The main diet seems to consist of meat....lots of it, so vegetarians beware!

I had a great week, love the country and will hopefully visit again soon....enjoy!

This hotel seems to have been recently renovated. It has a rather small gym. Internet in the rooms is quite expensive, but there are 3-4 computers in the basement (internet room) and they sometimes function and are free. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed my stay there, as the rooms themselves are comfortably furnished, with awesome beds! All my colleagues say that those are the best beds for sleeping. I guess nobody has done anything else in them, yet.
The food in the restaurant is maybe a bit expensive (as in all the restaurants around the city that we've visited), but it is at least good.
There is a wonderful hill right next to the hotel, and I recommend climbing it.
