“Please Read Before Booking This Hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

The third day of our stay, our i-phones were stolen out of our bags. The room was not broken into, so we can only assume it was some one on the hotel's staff. We reported the phones missing that night, asked for no one to enter our room during our stay, and were told to come the next day to file a police report. The head of security was a shady character, and even told us he would understand if the maid took them if they were left on the table, but could not believe she took them out of our bags. We waited 2 hours to meet with a police officer, who took another hour to write a report he considered as just a formality. They told us they did not plan to investigate. A few days later, after complaining that we wanted our money back (which would only cover one of the phones) we met with the head of marketing and customer service, Sanella and 2 other heads of the hotel. She was rude, unaccommodating and at one point even refused to speak English with me because my boyfriend speaks a little Serbian. In the end, nothing was done for us and our stay at this hotel was spent worrying and frightened. The same maid entered our room without cleaning it every day and we even caught her snooping around our stuff, once again the hotel did nothing. We found bugs in the room and the shower drain was clogged. Besides the bad experience at the hotel, this country is completely selling out their culture to Russians. The only thing they have is the sea, and some beaches even charge 50 cent euro to use the restroom. We went to other cities in Eastern Europe, and the people were not surprised by this behavior as it is common in Montenegro. I would skip this country all together and go to Serbia, Croatia or Greece. This is a cheap hotel, and you really get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a safe, because not all of them have them!

Rooms are relatively clean, bathroom is nice and modern. Rooms are easy to break into(door wobbles). Food is awful, restaurant is dirty(we survived on potatoes and carrots). Beach is nice but water is dirty in the afternoon. Only thing good there is the coctail bar(best Sex on the beach ever).
Budva itself is very beautiful and there are a lot of clubs and food stands there.

A very large complex with many buildings and shops. There are many people on the streets talking to you in Russian trying to sell you stuff. The resort staff only speak Russian. They don't even speak Montenegrin even though the hotel is in Montenegro. Everyone there is Russian. One good thing is that there are no cars allowed in the complex. The complex is nice enough, I suppose, even though it is very old.

The rooms were very basic. They had air conditioning that worked, two beds, and not much else. There was almost no soap in the washroom. However, my main complaint was how dirty it was.

As soon as I entered the room I went to the shower. As soon as I was about to step in I realized that the shower was extremely dirty. There was hair and other stuff in it from the person using it before me. I had to clean the shower myself. And it didn't end there.

Instead of getting proper bedding you just get a flimsy blanket to cover yourself. And these blankets looked like they have never been cleaned. There were several large pieces of hair on these blankets. How are you expected to sleep under some old, soiled blanket on bedding that has probably never been changed as well? This was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Do not stay here.

Myself and my husband stayed here for 4 nights in July. As we booked last minute we were worried we may get one of the older rooms. We were really happy to find we got an amazng room. Newly done up with a great bathroom, modern air conditioning, TV etc. We've stayed in 4 stars with far inferior rooms.

We only ate in the hotel for breakfast where everyone seems to blatently pile their plates high to take food out in bags. Really greedy people seemed to be staying in the hotel when we were there. The grounds are huge and well maintained. The hotel shops are reasonably priced too.

The hotel is perfectly positioned, a lovely 10/15 minute walk to the old town and a 20 min walk to Becici beach.

Great value for money and highly recommended.

Room Tip: Kaleta VB was a good part with modern rooms

We were pleasantly surprised by the complex, we had read some nasty reviews before going there, but in reality everything was great. The photos they shou on the hotel presentation are very realistic. The check-in was a nightmare, though. Try to arrive after 12.00, because from about 11.00 am plenty of people make an endless queue of tired and hungry crowd, and the receptionists don't move a muscle until 12.00!. But then, we saw the room, which was very nice and clean (and it was kept clean all during the stay - maids changed sheets and towels every day), bathroom was all new and shiny. the room door was old, but i think it's next in line to be changed. We had an all inclusive vacation. the restaurant was a bit out of date, but the food was really good, and plenty of it. the desert was pretty much the same every day but the fruit was fresh and varied. The beach wasn't quite on my taste, since there was no sand at all, only rocks and pebbles, and you must pay for the chairs and umbrellas. So we spent all the time at the children's pool (with depths from 0.95m to 1.75m - so an adult can swim in it just fine) which was very clean and had a permanent lifeguard. The only thing that was missing from the hotel was the English language:) nobody except the conciergespoke english, and they weren't very eager to make themselves understood. if you could speak serb or russian, ok. All in all, it was great and we would go there again, no question, and would recommend it to anyone:)

Room Tip: We stayed in Kalleta I A and it was really ok

A clean and well presented large complex. food a little basic but plenty of it. daily maid service, fab new bathroom, fridge but NO kettle!!! We were the only 'brits' WELSH staying there but we did meet some on our days out. If your thinking of going to expensive Dubrovnik be prepared for lenghty details at the Croation border coming and going! Go ALBANIA instead, awesome country can't wait to go back in a couple of years to see their progress!! Montenegro a lovely country, hot, sunny and inexpensive and will definetly be going back!!!!!

Room Tip: this complex is so big with reception at one end the beach at the other and the main restaurant in...

Having recently stayed here 4 nights, we still aren't sure about it! We took a taxi from the bus station (5 euros but 3 euros on way back!). The hotel is only a couple of minutes drive but a little tricky to get there as the station is tucked away up a number of side roads. Check in was speedy & we were shown by golf buggy to our appartment in kaleta (street) 5. The appartment was on the top floor & was nice & spacious with a big balcony, bedroom, bathroom (with open shower) & spearate kitchen with a little dining area. The kitchen has 2 electric hobs, a mini fridge freezer, crockery, some old pans (seen better days), a limited amount of cutlery (no tin opener/corkscrew) & no glasses. If you plan on eating in you'll need to buy washing up liquid/scourers & a tea towel.

Appartment wise - they'd clearly done these up recently. What was strange was that the bathroom was uber modern with state of the art rainshower & taps.......but no hot water. Every day the water was at most tepid & some days it was too cold to even contemplate. The same went for the tv - a great sony 42" flat screen tv......with..... 1 grainy tv channel. We re-tuned it to no avail & the electrician also couldn't get it to work - or any of the other new ones.... If you are going to that effort - finish the job surely?!?!?!

The hotel has a distinctly 70s feel to it & its screaming to be let out! Bizarrely the leaflets that the reception give you on check in say 'Slovenska Plaza, Budva, Yugoslavia'. Clearly they bulk purchased pre the 90s........!! The hotel grounds are huge but empty. All rooms/appartments are situated in kaletas 1-7 and these lead on to the Corso - the main road on which the shops are. They are also clearly doing the whole place up as all the wooden shutters are being replaced in every room, along with new windows & doors & decor. The whole place was a complete building site and there was clearly a lot more work to be done. All the restaurants were closed except the pension restarant (we only had breakfast included and were glad as it wasn't up to much - bread, polenta, savoury dough balls, liver sausage, feta cheese & honey. The only good thing were the pancakes (1 per person). Service was also brusk (aka rude) and despite breakfast being served until 10, they started clearing everything away at 9.50 each day with a view to kicking you out at 10. The swimming pools (were they open) looked nice - one had been re-tiled & the other one looked like it was soon going to be (we stayed 26-30 May). Fortunately it wasn't that hot when we were there otherwise I would have been annoyed at the lack of advertised facilities (also no entertainment, tennis courts being resurfaced.....you get the picture.... Maybe in a month or two it might be a 3 star hotel but at the moment its a building site.

Locationwise - its ok. A 20 min walk from Budva old town. The beach outside is passable although very busy, small & quite dirty. Sunbed hire is 10 euros a day (2 beds & a parasol) but you can find a space & lie on the beach direct. There's a good little boat (5 euros) that goes from the jetty outside the hotel at 10 & 2 & takes you along Beicci beach, past Sveti Stefan (currently closed for renovation work so you can't enter the island at all) & over to the little island opposite where you stop for 20 mins (nothing there at all).

Room Tip: Ask for one that has been renovatedy & is on a high floor (ones on the lower floors are quite da...
