“a calm and quiet monastery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

A small monastery but well proportioned architecture.
Once I stepped inside, I felt calm and peace like I had gone back in time in a fairytale world.
That makes me consider it the most beautiful monastery in Bucovina.
The surroundings are beautiful and it is worth exploring with a jeep or you can arrange a horse carriage ride with the locals.

Accommodation, meals and services are scarce around. Recommend accommodation in Sucevita (40 minutes driving distance)

“An Impressive Romania/Bucovina Painted Monastery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Moldavita is another impressive Romania/Bucovina Painted Monastery. We were especially intrigued by the Romanian artisans painstaking restoration of the icons/fresco on the buildings exterior. We applaud their efforts to restore this important symbol of Romanian history.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

There isn't a lot I can add to other reviews. It's an excellent illustration of how to educate an illiterate population on religion, who the monarch and his successor are and who the enemy is all wrapped up in an awe inspiring package. One look at the walls and the idea of church as sanctuary takes on an entirely different significance.

“A spectacular lesson of orthodox religion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

If you want to have s spectacular lesson of orthodox religion at the Monastery, try to have a s guide the Nun Tatiana. She will explain you the meaning of each painting from the walls in one-two hours. She can speak in French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. It is a beautiful Monastery, with a lot of history between the walls. If you have time to stop it will worth all your minutes spent there. Enjoy!

“spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Very nice place with beautiful gardens. Less crowded we felt the serenity of a monastery. The frescoes are really spectacular. Walking around and smelling the roses after the rain it was a very pleasant experience.
