- it has a perfect location, walking distance from the city center (old center
- it is very quiet if you are used to lining in a big city like Bucharest
- the mattresses are especially comfortable, and I appreciated the non allergenic pillows
- I would have preferred a double bed instead of twin beds (but there was no availability)
- it is a charming property, with great style and elegant ambiance
- the bathroom was extremely small, but it is understandable given the re-purposed old building
- we had no problem with the late check-in
- I especially loved the mirror in the room :)
- everything was very clean and looked new
- free parking during the weekends in front of the property
I would definitely chose Avalon again whenever I am in Oradea!

Room tip: all the rooms are great

took a single room for a l little more than a week; I had read all the previous reviews and I knew what to expect... and I was not disappointed : clean, cozy, convenient location, quiet ( except for the occasional heavy rumble from the tram in early AM ), comfortable bed. Owner very helpful as a concierge.

We booked the rooms based on the reviews we found here(rooms 3&4). Needless to say, we were not disappointed. The owner was very nice, and the rooms were clean. the rooms are a bit small, but we didn't care since we only used them for sleep. Very close to downtown area--a 5 minute walk, close to the trolley or bus station..... You can not get a better deal. I would recommend it to anyone and we would definitely come back. Congratulation to the owner....

We rented 2 rooms: one with double bed and one with two single beds. The hotel was clean but there was a terrible smell in the double room, the beds were not very confortable and the noise of the tram all night was very annoying. We didn't meet the owner but he sounded ok, he left the keys to the lady at the bar downstairs ( dont worry for that it closes at around ten) It is located about 10min walk to the center and there is parking on the street for the car. Compared to other locations we rented around Romania, this was a bit expensive.

Dear guest,

thank you for staying at AVALON Rooms, but also for taking time to review your stay.

Because you had a remark regarding the price, we checked your booking and rates for any inconsistency, there is none: you paid the exact agreed amount of 22Euro for the double room. If this rate seemed too high, probably you could find plenty of cheaper options to examine in other parts of the city or suburbs. Even if Oradea is not (yet) a match for the more visited Sibiu, Brasov or Bucharest, it is still, a very important (over 190.000 inh.) border city on a major route, with a highly valuable historical city center and tourist attractions. Our rate is the smallest that you can find in the city center ring, regardless of the quality of the other accommodations, but, we can not compare it to “other parts” of Romania, it is like we compare apples and pears (old Romanian saying)

Our apologies for the air discomfort in one of the rooms, most likely, if the room was not previously used, it was not refreshed (open window) on that day.

Regarding the noise from the street, it is uniquely the case of the triple room which is the only room that face the street, but, we have to correct your remark: “the noise of the tram all night”. Trams schedule in Oradea is 05:30 (first tram) -00:15 (last tram), thus is hard for us to understand how could you be annoyed by something that it could not happened :)

Our disappointment is that you couldn’t find in our rooms, exactly the things that makes AVALON Rooms so appreciated by thousand of tourists over the years: location, very good rates and comfort (that includes the beds too :) )

Our booking via a third partie website didn't came through and we found the place closed for the day. This was solved with a quick call, after which we gained access to the our room. Quick solution for this problem and besides that a very well furnished, cosy place to stay. Also very helpfull with booking taxi's and providing other information.
