Christina Aben is the owner/curator of the Ganduyan Museum located at the town center of Sagada. She and her family own the Ganduyan Pension/Hotel and gift shop located next to the museum. The museum used to be the family home of her deceased husband.
Jewelries, baskets, fighting weapons, and some clothing that local men wear are on display at the museum. Using perfect English, Mrs. Aben explains these items, their uses, people who wear/use them, etc. She entertains questions from her visitors. After her presentation, she asks them to sign her Guests Book and to donate something for the upkeep of the museum.
Note that visitors are asked to take off their shoes/footwear before going upstairs to the museum. Photography is generally not allowed. With her permission, however, we were allowed to take her picture during our short visit on January 11, 2013.
To understand the local culture of Sagada, be sure to visit the Ganduyan Museum and say hello to Mrs. Christina Aben.
