“LEARNED NEW THINGS ABOUT THE SAGADA LOCALS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Christina Aben is the owner/curator of the Ganduyan Museum located at the town center of Sagada. She and her family own the Ganduyan Pension/Hotel and gift shop located next to the museum. The museum used to be the family home of her deceased husband.

Jewelries, baskets, fighting weapons, and some clothing that local men wear are on display at the museum. Using perfect English, Mrs. Aben explains these items, their uses, people who wear/use them, etc. She entertains questions from her visitors. After her presentation, she asks them to sign her Guests Book and to donate something for the upkeep of the museum.

Note that visitors are asked to take off their shoes/footwear before going upstairs to the museum. Photography is generally not allowed. With her permission, however, we were allowed to take her picture during our short visit on January 11, 2013.

To understand the local culture of Sagada, be sure to visit the Ganduyan Museum and say hello to Mrs. Christina Aben.

“Learn about the Igorots”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

Here's one place where you'd feel your grandmother is reading to you a storybook. Very interesting stories about headhunting and the Igorot caste system. After listening to the curator of the museum, you'd be left with great respect for a culture that speaks much about bravery and resiliency.

“Small, private collection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

The owner wasn't giving a tour when we arrived because it was already dark, but she was still very accommodating nonetheless.

“A must visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2012

Mrs. Ganduyan's narrations are a must for everyone to listen to. Her collections give visitors knowledge of Sagada and their culture. Have her tell the stories behind her collection to appreciate Sagada even more.
