“Worth a Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Located in the dry, windy desert, this grave-site is a fascinating look into the culture at the time. The well preserved mummies give this place a very eerie feeling. It is sad that this site has been heavily desecrated by grave robbers over the centuries. Make sure you visit this site with a well informed guide.

“If you love history.....don't miss this place.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

A long ride ...about 30 k through dusty roads ( the last few k are dusty) brings you to this lonely but ancient historic cemetery. If you are a lover of history or human evolution, this place will be of great interest to you. These are open tombs with mummies preserved from prehispanic era......We had an excellent guide who was very patient in answerign the numerous questions i had for him. Again a big thank you to http://www.ecstravel.com/en/ who organised our guide and trip as an add on.

“Keep a tissue handy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We took photos of these mummies but won't be printing any as it feels like defiling those long dead. Our tour guide was excellent, talking reverently about each mummy and where it was buried. A very interesting place to visit and quite emotional but it isn't protected and will deteriorate in time if the government does not atke action. It is hot there so take plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat.

“It´s a short tour from the city...so it´s worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

It´s interesting to know how the mummies were burried and their graves robbed by the " guaqueros ". The dry wheather helped the conservation of these bodies.
With a car and knowing the way one can make this trip by himself but it´s better with a guide to know all the history behind this ancient practice of Nazca funeral.
Mid afternoon is better to take pictures of the landscape around.

“Interesting Mummies”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

It was interesting to see how well preserved the mummifies were and how well the Nazcans made clothing but sobering to see evidence of tomb robbers--my gide said he had even had some tourists pinch bones and mandibles ( a Brazilian dentist to decorate his waiting room) and ignore his plea not to take items.
