“Great escape to a quiet beautifull place with great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

I was there a couple weeks ago and was so impressed with the place. Lots of identity! They should call themselves a boutique more than a lodge! Amazing views of the white cordillera, great rooms, great service and the staff there is really friendly. The food was amazing! All organic from their own veggie patch. The place has a great pool sheltered from the wind and with an amazing view of the andes. Will come back for sure!

Room Tip: They are all great but if you are agroup is better to get the cabin.

Cuesta serena is a unique place in Huaraz. It has a predilect location, its sight of the Huascaran peak is unique, the weather, the quiet, the friendly welcome of its host. This is a place I would come back, I will do it. Im sure is one of the best places for being in the Callejon Huaylas. I put 4 star instead of 5 not because the place does not deserve it but because it can be better. The hotel looks like an small village, it is really charming, as a boutique hotel should be. Bedrooms are really nice. The familiar environment is one of the success of this place. The opportunity to speak with others, sharing the dinner or preparing for the day during the breakfast. There are options of having a massage or swimming the pool though a little cold. The menu is composed of organic food, very healthy though the options are somehow limited, but guests are so few and selected that service is very personalized and quick. The instalations are far enough for the whole family and the location is strategic for the different destinations and adventures. I strongly recommed this place to pass the night in Huaraz with the family and especially in couple.

Room Tip: All the rooms are specially designed and comfortable. The suite of course has a unique view to the H...

We travelled to Huaraz and stayed at a Lodge called Cuesta Serena.
It has a stunning view of the highest mountain in Peru, the Huascarán.
Sitting on the porch having breakfast looking at the Huascáran was super!
The rooms are fairly large and clean. Inside the lodge is a fireplace that made it very cosy.
We drove to the Huascáran, breathtaking "raw" nature!
Everybody is very friendly and the lodge has so much caracter.
There is an enclosed swimming pool. Great grass area for kids to run and play.

The lodge is nice; buildings and rooms in a great style with a special taste.
Food very well prepared but with no almost options.
Location is good if you have early morning flight (is 2 km from the airport) but far from nicest place in the region.
We decided to book here because we had just finished our 3-day trek in Ancash and we were dreaming about some relax in the spa with sauna and heated pool in the lodge. When we arrived, the result was disappointing: spa area was under renewal and the pool is heated only by the sun, not enough to have warm water! A lodge enjoying such a good fame and asking such high prices, should at least inform in advance his guests and apply reasonable discounts when these type of services are not available. In a few words: our expectations were not met and we found the treatment -somehow- unfair.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2008

Stayed at the Cuesta Serena for a few nights in August. The entrance is hard to find off the main road, but once there, we were very pleasantly surprised.
The rooms were fairly large and beautifully decorated, facing the most spectacular view to the Andes mountains.
Cozy living room with a fireplace was inviting to sit and relax.
Both dinner and breakfasts were very good.
The staff was helpful and eager to please all the time, even the owner was always asking if there was anything else he could do for us.
This place exceeded my expections from beginning to end and would difinitley recommend it.

  • Liked — Unusually luxurious for the standard in Huaraz
