I don't understand what others have written about unfriendly staff. I've had great conversations with the staff here, even with my basic Spanish - they're super helpful and friendly, and speak basic to good English. Aldo himself is quite fluent. The price is low, but there seem to be a lot of amenities here for the price - laundry, kitchen, free computer/internet access, etc. And quality firm mattresses. The whole place is brightly colored and clean and in the center of town. It's definitely not upscale (the kitchen isn't the cleanest), but it has the basics and is great for backpackers - you get what you pay for. We have a double with big windows that look out onto the street, which probably helps our appreciation of the place. It seems that no hostels in town have a lobby area where you check in - you always have to call someone, which seems to be an issue that some reviewers have had. Aldo (and at least one of the people working here) work at Galaxia Expeditions around the corner, so you can find them there during the day if you want to check in.
