“A reasonable and good choice in overpriced Aguas Calientes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

I was a bit unsecure as pre-booking by one of the major booking agencies wasn’t possible.
I only had an email confirmation from the hostel, but in many hotel reviews from tripadvisor
It was stated that this doesn’t have to mean a thing. But with the Wiracocha Inn it was’t a problem.

When you arrive in Aguas Calientes watch out as somebody from the pre-reserved hostel usually will be there to pick you up....we weren't lucky ad missed the guy. Unfortunately the hostel is located quite a steep way up the town, which can be heavy when you have to carry all your luggage there.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The room we got was pretty good but a bit moldy. Hot shower and Wifi worked great. The bed was great with a good mattress and a warm blanket. In the morning the hotel offers breakfast from 5.00 am which is almost a little late as the first bus to M.P. departs at 5:30 am but if you are fast in eating it won’t be a problem.

Staff was really great, as my girl-friend had stomach problems and they offered us a room free of charge as we had to check out at 9:00 am of our original booked room which was reserved for new arriving customers. Unfortunately you need to bring some Spanish words with you as English is not the best for them to understand.

Besides of that the hostel also offers a storage facility and a free shower and toilet for visitors who arrive back from M.P in the afternoon and have to go back by train to Cusco on the same day.

All in all we were very satisfied with our choice and can highly recommend it to everyone.

Obviously, a tourist town. Expensive city without a lot of great options. We found this place to be much nicer than expected, with bathrooms that worked, a heater and a fridge and a clean room. Hotel staff were pleasant. They did not have our reservation though, so I had to show my copy of it for them to give us a room. Otherwise, all went smoothly. Location is close to the main street (a short walk from the train station). For this city I give it a 4/5 with decent value - most other cities this same place would be expensive and 3/5.
One other hint: Along the main drag their are a ton of places advertising cheap drinks (4 for the price of one happy hour kind of thing). The one we went to was a rip off, and it sounds like they all are. The either give you tiny shot glass size drinks or give you big ones and charge you 3x as much as they said. And they add a 20% non-existent tax.

The hotel is relatively easy to get to from the train station, and the room we got was pretty nice (see photo). The main thing that struck me about this place was the friendly and helpful staff (quite unlike other hotels on our trip to Peru where staff were more serious). When we got back from Machu Picchu in the afternoon, the staff gladly allowed us to shower in one of the rooms even though we had already checked out in the morning. When I needed laundry services, they gladly took the "smelly" package and as I did not check the price before, I paid the 50 soles I heard them say. They immediately clarified that it was 15 soles, not 50 soles showing their honesty.

Breakfast was pretty good as was the free internet desktops in the lobby. Perhaps the only downside if I were to name one was that the multiple wifi points provided did not provide strong enough signals to our corner room on the second level. All in all though, I would return to this hotel!

I recently stayed in this hotel with 3 friends. We were pleasantly surprised, they met up with us at the train station and led us to the hotel. Our room was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable with down duvet. Breakfast was ready at 5am which gives you plenty of time to get to Machu Picchu really early. I would stay here again. Great deal!

This is a perfect little inn for an overnight halt in Aguas Calientes. Its a short walk from the train station and an even shorter walk to the bus station if you plan to take the bus up to Macchu Picchu the next morning. There are plently of dinning options around the inn. The room was spacious and the facilities were clean. We had the breakfast included in our price for the night but i would recommend that you make alternate arrangements for breakfast as well. The staff was more than accomodating and helpful.
Definitely recommend this place for an overnight stay in Aguas Calientes.

The bedroom and bathroom were in good condition. The place is simple with few amenities, but all we wanted was a cheap place to stay in Aguas Calientes. I have included photos that show a contrast with the negative experiences some others have had in the past.

The family members that run the establishment were very friendly and helpful. They asked what time we wanted breakfast and didn't bat an eye when we said 4:45 AM because we were heading up for an early-morning hike.

Let me start by saying breakfast was great...I should have known the game from them asking for a passport and taking no credit cards. But alot of places in Peru operate like that.. So we took the room and there was construction right outside our window all night, even though they said it would stop at night. The room was filled with mold we had asbestos coming in from the window. Broken lights pooorest service. No discount even considered just irresponsible responses to any question we asked.. We couldn't even stay here we burned the money and luckily had camping gear for outside.
