“One of the best choices in Aguas Calientes, but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

... definitely overpriced. Our room was clean, quiet, comfortable, etc. and the hotel appeared to be one of the nicer hotels in the area. At first i thought it was overpriced, but considering the rate included breakfast and dinner, i realized it is somewhat fairly priced. Also, the entire town is a tourist trap, so all in all, i guess the price was reasonable. One great service they offer is - the hotel porters help you bring your stuff to the train station. Also, they help you deliver your laundry to and from an off-hotel-site laundromat (you should tip them, but it ends up costing much less than if you use the hotel laundry service).

Oh, one morning the hotel lost power (apparently it happens pretty frequently in this town) but the staff/breakfast proceeded seamlessly. Can't really blame the hotel, but just wanted to point it out as an fyi, in case you are planning on going to this town. We had just returned from camping, so our headlights came in handy :)

Frankly, I expected a bit more. My room actually had a semi-nice view: I just could not look sideways, since the view there was of a shanty-town. But the food the the restaurant was good - dinner was included in our rate. But there isn't much to do at the hotel: no pool, no gym. But the hotel is well located, close to the bus stop to Machu Picchu.

extremely clean, efficent and lovley hotel. drinks were awesome and made to order, squeezing oranges for our mimosas. wait staff exellent.. lunch to go pac worth every dime ,enough for 2 to share. location is a short walking distance to everything... bus station, train station and shopping. Really enjoyed our stay, felt very safe.

This hotel appears to be one of the better properties in Aqua Calientes. The breakfast was outstanding with omelets made to order. The dinner is included in hotel cost, but the cooking is hit and miss. Between two of us and 4 meals served, only one was any good. In general the trout was a very small portion and was overcooked. The last meal we ate was at indio feliz and was outstanding. The staff was fine and it had a nice giftshop. As other have stated, the walls are extremely thin. It did have a nice bar. If this hotel had been in Cuzco, I would not have rated it this high.

Our room was clean, quiet and warm. Dinner was included and not bad. Breakfast buffet was average. Service was good. The hotel has porters to bring your luggage from the train station to the hotel and vice versa. Centrally located.

We stayed at El Mapi after doing the short Inca trail.

It is well located as regards the bus station, the railway station and the many restaurants.

The evening meal was good as was the following day's breakfast. No complaints as regards the room, it was comfortable and we slept well (maybe due to the day's exertions!)

The hotel is in a great location on your way to Machu Picchu. The rooms were clean, but cold. They only had a small heating unit that could not warm the entire room. The power went out through out the night so there was no hot water for a shower warm shower. A freezing shower that you have paid over $250 for is very irritating. Food included in price was good.
