Stayed in this hotel for 24 hours. I did not look forward to fly to Lagos but it became my best layover in Africa so far.

On friday night the hotel organizes a crew party for airline crew. Heineken and snacks and some great fun with different crews made are offered. Although that last part is not guaranteed by the hotel off course.

Rooms are basic but clean. And I felt safe.

One thing that stands out was the Food Exceptional Indian Food available credit to the Chef. Hope the Manager of the Hotel visits Bangkok or other countries and have a look what are the choices you get at 450$.

Dear Amitahuja1981,

We thank you for your review of the hotel. Your commendation of our chefs is highly appreciated and as been communicated. The cost of operation in the country is a key determining factor in the rates charged at the hotel.
We look forward to having you in hotel during your next visit in the city.

Located in cool part of Festac Town, Lagos. I stayed here for about 12 days, though for a training but I enjoyed it. Very nice food and quit environment , I like the pool side dinner.
The Gym is not that well equipped.
The staff are courteous.

First and foremost, it is not a secret that finding a good (by international standards can be considered clean and amenities functioning!) and FAIRLY PRICED hotel in Nigeria is a challenge! Golden Tulip is a haven in this sense. The room is clean, sheets and pillows smelled fresh, bathroom is also clean and fixtures are all functioning! For this, i would say, one can still sleep with good conscience! However getting this level of cleanliness comes with a price or two!

It costs about 30,000N (about $200) to stay for a night - although I got the room for a sale price of about 28,000N (about $176) with free buffet breakfast. Everything is expensive at the hotel, Food & Drinks are excruciatingly expensive! A small bottle of water costs 600N a whole pack of about 15 bottles cost about 700N outside. Beer is about 1400N or so and a small glass of margarita 1900N! The quantity nor the quality of food do not justify the price either! The hotel caters to airline employees and It is such a shame that they prioritize them more than other guests! I was asked to vacate a seat at an EMPTY reception area (yes empty!!! no one was there except for one gentleman pilot!) Apparently IT IS RESERVED for airline employees ONLY - and all seat clusters were anyway marked RESERVED. After staying in this hotel for 4 nights I really had enough.

Dear Madam,
We thank you for your recent review of the hotel. We have reviewed your comments about our hotel Golden Tulip Festac Lagos:
•The cost of items in the hotel are reasonably priced when compared to other 4 star hotels in the city, taking into consideration of the cost involved.
•Concerning the crew area, this area is reserved for the crew for a specific time during the day and this practice is done for any of our guest who requests for a reserved area at the hotel. I will like to assure you that all our clients are treated with top high quality as all our guests are VIP without any exceptions.

My first and only stay at Golden Tulip was for an office retreat. I had heard great reviews about the hotel from the previous year's retreat there and was looking forward to this year's stay. This year proved to be extremely disappointing.

The service was poor and the staff were not overly helpful even when we complained. The food was not fantastic and one of the meals was barely tolerable. The meal plan we drew up was not followed, the hall was not arranged to our specification, and the invoice initially had charges we did not incur. My room was okay and clean but the carpeting in the halls looked shabby and not too clean.

After our stay, I sent my complaints with items in the bill which i did not agree with. Two weeks after, no one has called to apologise for the shoddy treatment we received. If there was a rating lower than one, I would give the hotel just for that.

I spent a week in Lagos for business in this hotel and the experience was not good at all, for the following reasons:
- The safebox in my room did not work. Right after checking in I reported this issue, and the receptionist assured me that it would have been solved in 1 hour. I reported the issue every day, since nobody never fixed it.
- The wifi connection worked in the lobby and meeting rooms only. Internet was not available in the rooms, not even using a cable. The excuse they had was about the renovations in progress...
- My room was not clean at all
- They did not remove the room service trolleys when requested, not even when they cleaned the room. Solution: throw it in the middle of the corridor
- The best surprise was at the checkout, when a 9000 USD breakfast was included in my bill. It took about 1 hour of discussions with the receptionists and the manager in order to let them understand that it was a mistake!
- During my discussion with management (previous point) a lady was really insisting to interview me about my stay, politely I said that I was not interested, and she kept trying to convince me for about 15 minutes. I really wanted to leave!!!
- Food is average in terms of quality, for sure not good value for money considering that it's in Nigeria
- Finally, they do not accept american express

Room Tip: Don't choose this place...

Dear Mr. Daniele
We thank you for your recent review of the Hotel. The issues mentioned have been investigated, see below our responses:

Safe Box:
We apologize that your complaint was not attended to throughout you stay. During our investigation it was gathered that the receptionist who attended to you was a trainee. However, this is not a justification from our side as actions have to been taken.

Internet Connection:
During your stay at the hotel there was an upgrade exercise of our internet facility to ensure guest satisfaction. The upgrade was done by an outsourced company and as such the management did not have control over the quality of internet service during the period. However, since the completion of the project our guest satisfaction ratings have been high.

Room Service:
You are a VIP guest and as such a VIP amenity was placed in your room, The Housekeeper saw the trolley with VIP amenities while cleaning but assumed that you still needed it. This however, was wrong and the trolley and the amenity should have been replaced. The management have taken necessary actions in that respect to ensure it does not happen in the future.

Billing:
The bill for breakfast totaling 900USD and not 9000USD that was posted into your bill was done as par the directive received from your company to change all breakfast consumption for your group into your bill. The delay in resolving the issue arose because we needed to get a counter instruction from the same source before the bill could be moved.

Food quality:
We are surprised that you rated our food quality as average. We presently are one of the best in the city in terms of food quality with daily statistics from local and international guest confirming that. Our 7 days Theme night buffet, is prepared by international chefs from different parts of the world to ensure our guest satisfaction is guaranteed. We are also the only hotel in the city with a microbiologist to check on daily basis the food quality and hygiene standards are kept .However, we will be glad to take you round to experience our services when next you are in the city.

American Express:
This issue is not within the powers of the hotel as American Express cards are presently not accepted generally within the country.

The management of the hotel uses this medium to apologize for any inconveniences we may have caused you during your stay at the hotel. We look forward to having you in the hotel when next next you are in the city.
