Stayed here as the sponsor company gets preferential rates so pre booked Dinner, Bed & Breakfast and paid in advance to avoid surprises. Arrived and discovered payment had not been processed - i left my company and the hotel to sort without me and it only took a whole day.
The staff are all courteous and polite, all cant seem to do enough for you, but i am amazed there are SO many staff - it seems it takes 3 bell hops to get you out of you vehicle and in the door and no one will take no for an answer, i guess it must be illegal for guests to touch their own luggage inside the hotel?
The hotel is in a good location for where i was working, the bed was amazingly comfortable - tempur memory foam mattress or similar.
The rooms were well appointed and spacious - i had a superior room but would rather had a business class room - you get a free lounge with free ice cold drinks (soft and beer), snacks etc.
The bars are well stocked, the restaurant was light and pleasant, the food was a let down.
not much choice if you have food allergies - the food buffet is arranged in 4 sections - a cold buffet (which has been out in the open since the meal time began and washed in tap water - a no no for us europeans) then theres "european food", african food and local food. Beware as most of the local/african food has dried or fresh fish in it to bulk it out - i have fish and sea food allergies and i only found out because i asked, this meant my choice was limited to the european section or the TDH Menu - again mostly fish/seafood or Lamb dishes - by a simple cruel twist - i cant stand lamb so i had the veal most nights.
the Hotel is on the river - sounds nice in principle but the reality is not so romantic - the infinity pool looks out of place - beautiful blue water that suddenly becomes filthy brown with floating rubbish and a body or two after the heavy thunder storms - not pretty, and neither is the smell.
plenty of bug zappers in and around the outside bar area - didn't get bitten by a single mosquito in the hotel during my entire stay.
If i had to go to Lagos again i would stay there again, theres tight security on the entrance to the hotel.
the only thing i would request is either a business class room or any room facing the river, my room was directly opposite the onsite Electricity plant - the noise was unrelenting 24/7
A river view room would prevent this.
