“Lunch Please!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Amazing for relaxation, chill music, and great food. I stopped in for lunch after kayaking and before the waterfall. The meals were extremely good, but nothing compares to the fresh cocoa brownies! I can't wait to return in the future!

We loved our stay at Finca Mystica! It is a beautiful spot tucked in the Volcan Maderas, just outside of Merida. The most difficult part of our stay was getting there!!! Even with a 4WD, we questioned whether or not some of the roads there were passable (they were - we never got stuck). We loved listening to the howler monkeys, hanging out in the main veranda/dining room (they have a nice selection of books, games, baseball gloves, etc to keep teenagers busy, not to mention, wi-fi), and exploring the island with Finca Mystica as our main base. They were able to set up a great guide for the hike to the top of Maderas. We would definitely return to Finca Mystica!!

This place is absolutely stunning. It was a beautiful haven to get away from everything. Ryan and Anji were great at helping organise tours and cheaper transport to and from the finca. Lots of work has gone into this place and the accomodation is of a high standard. The food really is as good as everyone says and the service is top quality. Anji, one of the owners even climbed the volcano with us. It was my boyfriend's birthday during our stay and birthday banana pancakes were arranged with a candle! These small touches made our stay unforgettable. The finca attracts a really interesting mix of people and we stayed up late drinking in the bar with everyone. We would have stayed longer if we could have.

I stayed at the Finca with my wife and 10-year old son, and we had a wonderful time. Ryan and Angela, the owners, are great people and set a very positive vibe.

The eco-friendly cabanas are interesting and unique, the food is great, the grounds are beautiful, and it's very affordable. What we enjoyed the most, though, was the social environment that Ryan and Angela foster - everyone meets for dinner, but naturally seems to get together. Our son met with some other kids, who'd been playing with a local boy. We met more people here than we did anyplace else on our trip.

It is *very* remote, so take that into account, and there's loads of insect life that knows few bounds, so if you want luxury or first-world cleanliness, you're in the wrong place! But for an eco-friendly resort to meet great people, this is a great spot. I'd go again any time.

Be sure to reserve a room for your length of stay - there's only 4 cabanas, and they're turning lots of people away!

We arrived at the Finca Mystica after a week of staying with a big Nica familyin a busy town and it was the tonic we needed to mellow out a little and process our adventure. Ryan and Angela are terrific hosts who provided yummy food and have great folks working for them. Ryan's tour of all the cool stuff they are growing was really fun. Peaceful, mellow -great if you just love walking around in a beautiful, rural place.

My husband and I live on Ometepe Island close to Moyogalpa. We were planning a trip to Merida on the other side of the island, to visit friends and Finca Mystica was recommended for our stay. We rode our motorcycle to Finca Mystica, which after a little accident on the rocky road, I will take a taxi from now on. Overall, our stay was fantastic. The cob construction is unique. Our cabana was cozy, clean, and decorated with special touches. I loved the addition of the bottles in the walls. The food was awesome and so was the company. Ryan and Angie are wonderful hosts. We will definitely return to Finca Mystica when we travel to the other side of the island again.

If your going to Nicaragua (remote to some), to Omotepe (remote to most) and on to Merida (remote to anyone) stay here. The other reviews say it all the food, the views and the hosts are all excelllent. However, I was most impressed and intrigued by the owner's themselves they've moved to this most remote of locations and plan on staying - bulding a house on the property, which they've just recently moved into and nteracting with and within the community in what seemed to me a truly organic way - not as profiteers (check out the prices) but as employers, philanthropists (organizing donations from arriving quests) and simply members of this tiny community.

Many travelers have dreamt of leaving it all behind - go to Finca Mystica and see how its done first-hand, perhaps you'll be inspired. If I had one suggestion it would be cool if they had some sort of naturalist on site or on call - nightwalks and hikes to view wildlife would likely be outstanding here with a well-informed guide.

Eric
