“Oasis in the desert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Kasbah Moyahut is just like a oasis in the desert. Near of thr dunes, is a great place to scape from the hot of sahara. The breakfast and dinner was excellent. Moyahut pick us in the bus station and leave us in the station for free and always was very helpful and also scheduled the camel ride during the sunset for us.

We hadn't planned on staying here but were having trouble finding the place we wanted to go to and were approached by a young man on a motorbike touting for business at Kasbah Mohayut. It was very hot (42 degrees) and we were tired so decided to have a look. We were not disappointed. The pool was clean and well utilised by us and the air conditioning a welcome relief from the heat. The Kasbah is right at the edge of the desert, the rooms clean and comfortable. We didn't eat here except for breakfast, which was unremarkable. The staff were friendly enough.

Easy to find, reasonably maintained, spacious rooms (with A/C) decorated with rural taste, friendly and helpful staff (they will arrange any activity you might like).
The dunes are just in front of the hotel you can either enjoy them taking a camel ride or by having a short walk.
There is also a small pool which is a pleasant plus (unless it's extremely windy as it often happens during the summer afternoons).
Breakfast is abundant and the food at dinner is quite good (obviously typical Moroccan).

Right at the desert doors stands one of many sleeping facilities in and around Merzouga. Mohayut is a good pick because it is so close to the first dunes that you can walk right to them from your room to enjoy watching the sun rise at dawn over a sea of sand. A fun experience is also to ride a camel at sun set. Rooms are comfy, but rustic furnished with traditional taste, hot and cold water available, AC, wifi in common areas, a small swimming pool (remember we are in the desert, water is of short supply!). Half board: dinner menu is ok, breakfast ok too. There is a secured parking area where cars and motorcycles can be safely left overnight. The staff is very helpful to arrange a guide and/or a camel ride. Good value for money.

Room Tip: Traditional comfort at the edge of the desert. But if you want experience sleeping under the stars y...

We arrived late, just around sunset, and we left early the next day, but our experience was great. We had delicious dinner and rich, diverse breakfast the next morning. We had room/apartment for three, way more spacious than what three might need - private rooftop terrace, separate facilites, lounge... everything clean, hot high pressure showers (in the Sahara desert! )... Common areas and gardens are quiet, cozy decorated. The whole vibe is really nice and chill. The whole complex is spacious, so even in case of groups, it's hard to notice many people.

Definitely recommend it! Looking forward to stay there once again!

This is built in the traditional design and hence has no TV etc but as it is on the dunes there was no need of any "electronic entertainment". There are two terraces from which to view the dunes of the Sahara which are only a 200 metre walk away. There are also established "Tents" in the dunes which have solid walls to keep out the sand. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meals varied and very tasty. A very comfortable place to stay "in the desert".

Decent hotel, they have a generous pool with a poolside bar, beautiful rooms and good breakfast. Location directly at the dunes is prime. They where very helpful and would let me change my booking on short notice without any charge. I'd rate the hotel 4 out of 5 stars BUT that only goes for the hotel, not their overnight cameltrip into the dunes, which I'd rate 0 stars. The camp was very basic, the food poor (by far the worst we had so far in morocco) and the hospitality of the guides inexistent. Our guides wouldn't even introduce themselves. While I heard that other tours had a campfire, live music or dancers, ours had nothing. So, if you just want a hotel, go for it, if you want to book a tour to the desert, go somewhere else.
