This riad is probably the best accommodation in Merzouga. It’s superb, a desert gem. The little town of Merzouga is situated on the edge of the Sahara and is the starting point for overnight treks into the desert. Riad Nezha was built around 2006 and has all mod cons in authentic Moroccan style. The owner is charming, staff are friendly and very helpful. Meals were excellent and on our first morning, it was lovely to have breakfast on the rooftop with a wonderful view out to the sand dunes. On our return from the desert next morning, we were provided with breakfast and a shower before moving on to our next destination. Great spot, highly recommended.
The desert camp organized by Morocco Expert Tours was another fantastic experience. Our little party of four left the riad at around 3.30pm and headed for the desert with a guide named Achmed. He was an excellent guide, well-informed, spoke excellent English and was such a delightful person. He took us to the best spots for photographing the sunset and sunrise. He cooked a great chicken tagine for us and then entertained us around a campfire late into the evening. He is an unforgettable character

This riad was absolutely beautiful! It was also very, very clean. By far, Riad Nezha was my favorite riad that we stayed at while in Morocco. We went in December and the desert can get cold at night time - however, this riad had more than adequate heating. I would not stay anywhere else!

My husband, 21-year-old daughter, and I used Riad Nezha as a base for our overnight sojourn at via camels to a Berber camp site in the Sahara, which happened to be New Year's Eve 2012. We stayed the night before at the Riad in an over-sized room which contained three beds, plus additional seating and tables. The room was modern—with plenty of electrical outlets—clean, and comfortable with an enormous tiled shower. The buffet meals were good with plentiful selections. The morning after our The decor is also quite pleasing with a serene swimming pool outside. We returned to the Riad following our overnight in the desert for breakfast and showers in rooms provided. Undoubtedly, Riad Nezha is the best place to say. Incidentally, Abraham, the owner, is a welcoming host who speaks excellent English.

What an absolute surprise and jewel in the middle of an extraordinary part of Morocco! It was definitely all about the total experience of service, hospitality, friendship, the riad and excursions into the desert that totally fitted our needs. Apart from more than acceptable accomodation and great cuisine we were mostly impacted by the relationship we had with the delightful and entertaining Youssef (riad manager). The location of the riad was perfect. We had a beautiful view of the dunes and the oasis in Merzouga was literally on our doorstep and what a wonderful experience to step into this world that we have only have read about in storybooks! Staying on the edge of Merzouga and the beautiful oasis as oppose to the strip of riads on the doorstep of the dunes made it more special and surreal. The trip into the desert with Achmed our very own experienced and characterful camel leader was real and unforgetful. They had no problem to organize my son a sandboard that he used just before sunset and during the night (the first to snowboard from one of the 'twins' at night time according to Achmed). We were struck by Achmed's amazing respect, experience and knowledge of the Sahara and the way he treated us throughout this trip. His tagine was out of this world. Thanks Youssef!
