“Great hostel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Amazing view from the hostel, its not expensive and the rooms are beautiful and clean. Maybe the breakfast it's not that good. Great terrace where you have an amazing view of this beautiful little town, the Atlas mountains and where you can here the surprising prayings at night when you can only see little lights on the blue houses

We spent 2 nights in Chefchaouen at Riad Baraka and it was all fantastic. They organised a private transfer from Tangier for us which worked out very well and a easy way to get there on our first day in the country after arriving from Spain on the ferry. Joe and his mum were great hosts with a wealth of knowledge about Chaouen and also other areas of Morocco (a great tip on cafe Clock in Fes too Joe, thanks for that it was fantastic). The Riad is relatively easy to find in the Medinah and very easy to access all the other parts on foot. The terrace has amazing views of the surrounds and the rooms and amenities were very clean. It is all we could ask for in a place providing such great value. Cheers.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to be very quiet, like ours.

Excellent value and introduction to Morocco. Hostel was exceptionally clean with great common areas and terraces for meeting other travellers. Good wifi throughout and hot showers. Joe and his Mam provided great advice for the area and onward travels. Chefchaouen is a fantastic place to relax - 100% Morocco but laid back and with very few hassles.

I arrived late at 1130pm without any prior booking. Joe was already asleep but led me to the available room so I could get some rest. The riad is wonderfully decorated and exceptionally clean. The terrace was amazing but too bad the weather wasn't that good the whole time I was there. I ended up staying for an additional night to explore the town.

Recommended for a cosy and yet non-intrusive environnment for solo travellers!

Overall, excellent value for money. I would highly recommend it.

I stayed 3 nights in Riad Baraka in October 2012 and it is so far, the best hotel i've stayed at in the 3 weeks i've been in Morocco. The hostel itself looks amazing, loads of character, exceptionally clean, good wifi. It has a fantastic rooftop terrace with great views across the whole town. It's situated inside the medina which might not be everyones cup of tea, but the Chefchaouen Medina is relatively relaxed and the hostel isn't too difficult to find, so I quite liked the location.

I stayed in a single room, which, like the hostel was spacious, looked beautiful, clean, comfortable bed and descent hot shower and wash sink. Breakfast was in my opinion great, being a large bowl of fresh fruit, a sweet pastry and a good coffee. The owners were very friendly and helpful, especially Joe whom I had most of my dealing with. He was all too willing to offer advice and assist in activitieses / day treks that I wanted to do.

I stayed at Riad Baraka for 4 nights in October and I highly recommend it. It was very clean and in a great location in the medina. I thought it was an excellent value. The owners were knowledgeable and helpful. Lastly, the roof terrace and the views were awesome!
