The colors were so vivid and the people of Morocco were so welcoming and lovely! The city of Chefchaouen is a must see on a visit to Morocco!

“Quaintest little town in Morocco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

As described by my mother, it is as beautiful and quaint as Santorini (in Greece), but not commercialized at all in that you can see the locals living there and going about their daily lives.

The whole town is painted in a gentle blue. The medina is spotted with artisan rugs and woven wool on sale, and is set in the backdrop of the high atlas mountains. A great relaxed small country town to roam around. It is hard to find your way, but at the same time you will never get lost because the place is small enough. Great for families.

I would highly reccommend the walk to the spainish mosque, which is on a small hill opposite Chefchaouen. It is about a half an hour walk from the main square. From the foot of the hill to the spainish mosque it is about another half an hour. It is a gentle walk, though walking shoes are advisable. The track is established but uneven after the first 100metres, therefore not wheelchair friendly. People with weak ankles should take caution. However, the view of chefchaouen from this hill is picturesque and photogenic, a miss-not miss.

“Beautiful gem in the Rif Mountains”

The chefchaouen medina is just beautiful and picturesque, really relaxed place to spend a week or so just forgetting the rest of the world and enjoying a mint tea in the plaza people-watching.

“IT'S A PICTURE POSTCARD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

It's beautiful. The whole medina is painted in shades of blue and white so that walking along you think you are walking in the sky.
Best of all though are the people. Fabulous people and not hustling you like in Marrakech or Fez.
This is a medina as it should be, with a heart and soul.
Believe us, you'll love it!
