Firstly if you don't know it then Chaouen is a dreamy out of this world hill town the ancient medina of which is made up of narrow streets and blue painted cave like houses.
Casa Perleta is one of theses beautiful old houses which has been lovingly restored as a holiday home. I have dreamed of staying within the blue walled medina for many years and this did not disappoint.
It is easy to find just a few hundred yards uphill from BabSouk entrance to the medina. If you're not sure then one of the children will happily show you for a few pence.
Like all guests we were welcomed, quickly shown our room and given advice on where to eat, places to visit etc.
We had room 8 which is large compared to the other rooms, it is on the roof next to the terrace which is delightful. Our first night was ruined by an inconsiderate group who felt it was ok to party until the small hours, thankfully they left the following day but the lovely Begonia made it clear that this was not acceptable.
Breakfast served on the roof terrace is a delight, catching up with other guests plans and taking advice on what to do next. Apart from the aforementioned group all the guests were delightful company.
What Begonia doesn't know about Chaouen probably isn't worth knowing she gives great advice on how to get the best out of your stay.
All the staff were attentive and welcoming, the house is spotless thanks to Fatima and the team.
Chaouen is a medina with narrow streets noise does carry, every mosque will call to prayer regularly including during the night. But you soon get used to this and miss it when you leave.
We stayed 4 nights and would happily have stayed longer. A lovely relaxing place.
