“Nice Dar in a Beautiful City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2012

Stayed here in April with half board at Casa Hassan and really enjoyed our room. We stayed on the top floor ant it was very secluded and peaceful with an amazing view out over the city. Very friendly hotel staff and parking not too far away outside the medina. Good breakfast!

Probably wouldn't do the half board again as Casa Hassan was just OK, and we would have enjoyed going out to other restaurants more.

Room Tip: Get the top room! Don't do half board.

My daughter and I were received by staff @ Dar Meziana with tons of hospitality - The lobby /lounge/dining area is superb! tiny yet cosy. The room was a dream come true. The shower and bathroom facilities - beautiful. The decor, as Moroccan as it gets. Breakfast was delicious. The ladies in the kitchen , management, everyone had a great smile and offered nothing bt excellence. The terrace has a view to die for! The blue town is worth every second- it is a must and so is this tiny "hotel"

Room Tip: We were given the room tahtleads to the terrace....could nto have asked for anything better! OUTSTAN...

My partner and I stayed at Dar Meziana for two nights at the beginning of our trip to Morocco. Our hotels were all organised for us so we didn't have any trouble with bills etc that other people have mentioned.

The riad is up a steep hill, which disconcerted us when we first arrived, but the whole of the Chefchouen medina is on hills, so it would be difficult to find a hotel which wasn't!

We stayed in the Yousf room at the top of the hotel (up more steep, narrow stairs - those who have mobility issues or stiff joints would find this extremely difficult!) but the view from our window made the whole thing worthwhile.

The room was decorated charmingly, and the bathroom, although small, worked well (apart from the leaky showerhead, but this is a tiny fault). The bathroom also had small windows looking out over the valley, but we could also see the terrace area, making privacy a possible issue.

Breakfast and dinner was provided - breakfast on the terrace with doughnuts, crepes, eggs and bread with freshly squeezed orange juice and coffee. Dinner was at the Casa Hassan, a pleasant walk through the medina. Their menu was small, but the food was delicious.

The service was helpful, with the young gentleman who met us helping to carry my bag up the steps, and providing us with a map and recommendations for things to see.

It was very quiet - we were the only guests, which made it very private. The medina has no cars, meaning there is absolutely no traffic noise - only the occasional rooster and the morning call to prayer!

All in all, this was a charming introduction to Morocco.

Room Tip: There are only a couple of rooms with a view, so ask.

My partner and I just spent a wonderful three days at Dar Meziana, and I can highly recommend it! It is located very close to Bab Souk, one of the medina gates - it's at the end of the second alley to the left after entering through the gate, so it's in a quiet and secluded location that's still convenient to the rest of the medina. We took the air-conditioned room on the top floor, that has a huge picture window overlooking the medina and the Rif Mountains. At 950 dirhams per night, it's the most luxurious choice in Chefchaouen - it's not an inexpensive room, but it's beautifully furnished, absolutely clean, and spacious. There are less expensive rooms available on the lower floors. Breakfasts can be taken where and when you want them, either downstairs, or out on the sunny and beautiful patio. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. A great place to stay in a wonderful town!

Beautiful hotel, great service (they give you cookies and tea to welcome you), nice breakfast.. my biggest problem was choosing the room because all of them where different and exquisite. It is a bit expensive for the prices in the city but its worth it. Make sure you ask for directions to get there or be ready to tip some one who will show you the way.

I don't remember feeling that Dar Meziana was overpriced. We thoroughly enjoyed staying our two nights here. We had a small, windowless room, but it was tastefully decorated. Didn't spend much time in the room anyway.

Breakfast was great, and we enjoyed dinners at the nearby Casa Hassan.

By the way, we went and checked in at Casa Hassan, then a staff person walked us up to Dar Meziana. The two is built on a steep hillside. Bear that in mind when you pack.

OVERPIRCED!
I stayed in the 'patio room' the staff sat out on the patio all night smoking, joking and being generally annoying.
The staff are unfriendly and take ages to do anything.
the staff rip you off... on and off the menu!!
