“Charming place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Nadia and Christian, the French owners, really have a charming place here. When arriving by car, the hotel ist at the end of the Ait Benhaddou village on the left hand side. Still it is only 10 minutes walk to teh Kasbah. The welcome was warm and friendly, our room was spacious and nicely decorated - only the bathroom a bit small and with a weird small window opening into the room rather than to the outside. Food is delicious - the best soup and tajine we had in all of Morocco, and the do serve beer or wine withe the meal which is mostly not the case in this part of the country. Prices are standard for theis size of hotel in the south of Morocco. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic & memorable stay at 'Etoile Filante D'Or'. From the moment we arrived to when we left, we were made feel totally at home and like part of the family. We ate at the hotel on both evenings and it was simply superb - home cooking at its very best! The views from the terrace are simply stunning. Lovely breakfast also... Thanks everyone, for making our stay in Aït Benhaddou an unforgettable experience!

Simoly amazing staff, great restaurant with delicious food (and wine and beer on offer!); perfect location in this small village-rooms were beautifully decorated; great colorful, common area with good wifi, got decent wifi in our room; air conditioning included in room, screens on windows so you can get a breeze without bugs coming in, beautiful curtains to keep the sun out of your eyes in the morning; very clean; hot showers, cold drinks; beautiful terrace overlooking main road (where you can eat your delicious breakfast) and the kasbah; spacious rooftop for star-gazing w/ blankets; couldn't recommend it more! So much more peaceful of a town than nearby Ouarzazate (take a shared taxi here if you can from there-we were only 2 people but bargained the driver down to 150 MD). They helped us bargain a taxi back to Ouarzazate for only 100MD (half hour drive. I highly recommend staying here at least one night instead of Ouarzazate. That way you can see the kasbah at sunset and sunrise-worth getting up for! Plus, chirping birds will wake you up instead of trucks and horns!

To be fair me and my boyfriend didn't actually stay here, but after asking people where to find beer to wind down after a long drive from Marrakesh this was the place we came to. When we got there we loved the interior, cozy chairs and colourful. The place is run by a French family who are absolutely lovely, informal and funny. And because they are not muslim they could serve all sorts of alcohol! We were considering making a runner from Riad Makhtoub to this place! We ended up spending our entire evenings in this place. Room prices were much cheaper than any other place, however we didn't see the actual rooms. Food is fine and they have free wi-fi. I would have loved to stay here, and to any young couples/travellers I would highly recommend staying in this place!

Pooring rain in the Atlas and a very sunny welcome from the new French owners; excellent service, confortable rooms with hot water, a good bed and some good food; 5 minutes walk from the Kzar (the local very typical kasbah) and a 20 minutes drive fron Ouarzazate

This is a no frills hotel. The beds are reasonably comfortable but our bathroom was cold and the tap didn't work properly. We didn't even try to use the shower. The food was ok, and we couldn't complain given that nothing else was open. It was nice to have a vegetarian option for dinner but it was fairly bland.
