1.There is strong Clorox (a type of cloth cleaner powder) smell for all the cloth (towels, bedsheets), this is what I felt uncomfortable the most.
2.There were handsome black skin divers who had been helpful for our snorkeling. you don't have to worry that you have to take care on them during your snorkel but just to enjoy !
3.wide beach infront of the resort u can play volleyball, kite, some other game. you can also see shark baby and sunrise nearby.
4.It is quite happening at night which many girls dancing on the stage.

Girls.. please be careful of this resort! A group of 12 of us stayed here in one of the dorm room and we had a VERY BAD experience. The bathroom is so dodgy since it is not inside our bedroom. There are only 2 shower rooms in the main hall. And on the 2nd day we stayed there, we caught a camera inside the bathroom while showering!!!!!!!! We were shocked and immediately logded a complain at the front desk. The lady did not treat the case as serious and so we lodged a police report. It has been a police case now, and it basically ruined the whole trip! So I suggest you girls DO NOT stay at this place. It is so not worth it..the service is terrible, food sucks (feel like ure in a school canteen) and it is way too crowded...u better stay somewhere else like Berjaya, Coral redang or Mutiara redang..which is much much better.

We were booked into this place, from Terengganu, for two nights. Nearly chose 6 nights but were shown the pictures and changed it to 2 ,to try it out. That was a lucky choice. One night was more that enough. Our semidetached room was sparten, as the photo showed, but worse. 2 single beds, a tall cupboard which was so small and the door wouldn't close properly. The bathroom was a concrete floored room with an inadequate shower where water went through the whole room. Toilet was also in this room. A perfumed block sat on the window ledge, to over power the sewage smell, which gave me a shocker of a headache. It rained heavily about 5am and the roof had a leak, luckily it missed the beds. We paid RM 711 for this dump, for the 2 nights but were quite happy to forgo the second night to get out of there. We left in such a hurry I forgot to take some photos, of the place.

I started making bookings with Redang Bay Resort about 2 months before we went. I must say that the reservations office is indeed very friendly and it makes me feel so postive about making the right decision of choosing the resort.

9 of us went to Pulau Redang on 10 August 2007. Upon reaching the capital city of Terengganu, a very nice mini bus picked us up. The driver, Mr Roslan is very good. He sms-ed me constantly with information and it was very comforting considering that this our our first long distance trip.

Mr Roslan drove us to Merang Jetty. A bit run down jetty but cosy enough for everyone. We had the best teh tarik and nasi lemak there too! Mr Roslan then took care of the boat arrangement and before he left he told me to sms him when we want to board the boat to go back to jetty in 3 days time.

The boat ride (i wouldnt call it a ferry cause its kinda small) was indeed fun but very bumpy! it scared the hell out of me and some others. the view was fascinating.

We reached Redang island after a whirlwind 40-minute ride and i totally fell in love with the view. clear blue water, beautiful lagoons.

our bags were transported by a huge tractor, the only automobile in the entire island. weird but fascinating.

Ok here comes the boot camp. we were greeted by a loud sound of a Chinese lady asking us to gather at the reception counter. perhaps they need to change their PA system cause I couldnt understand anything and everything she said.

I must say that till this part, everything was like a paradise where time stops. but upon hearing her shrieking voice (she actually need not to shout as she is using a microphone!) It is all so regimented. my name and other people's name ( the people who booked the resort) were repeated so many times that i felt kinda 'shy' to look around.

with her heavy chinese accent, she 'demanded' that
-register your name. take key and a/c remote control
-rest for a while then have lunch only from 12 -1.20
-after lunch u must register for snorkeling, u dont register, you cannot go. then pay RM5 for marine conservation park. we go at 2pm must be here 15 mins before
-must leave your key at the reception before u go out
-dinner at from 7-8.30 look for your table with ur name on it.

bla bla bla.

after nearly 15 mins of lecture, we all went to out designated rooms. the rooms are clean but very basic. bathrooms have water heater but looks like dormitory bathroom. well suits the price we paid. RM299 for 3 days 2 nights stay in family a/c room.

the island itself is a beauty. i love the sandy beaches, i love the island. the water is crystal clear and we can even snorkel in front of our resort. the fish are colorful and friendly. our lagoon has friendly waves compared to people who stayed at the 5-star berjaya laguna who has to bear huge waves directly from the ocean ( the laguna tourists swim at our beach anyway)

the first snorkeling trip was canceled due to strong winds. been replaced by jungle trekking. we didnt go. we played uno instead. then we snorkeled at the lagoon.

disco night - we went from one open disco to another. this island really has lively night live. . i liked it tho i think they might want to buy or even download the latest chart toppers instead of playing Macarena and Un Dos Tress Ale Ale ale - that ricky martin song.

the second day we went to the marina park. yes there were plenty of fish. varieties of them. but with about 400 ++ people from all the resorts in the island swimming around the netted area? it was not fun at all. then the usual having to queue to board the boat back to the resort.

the third day? THERE'S NO THIRD DAY! this should have been a 2 days 2 nights package instead. we were woken up by the loud sound of that lady again reminding us to get ready for departure at 7am! 7.40am our room door was knocked by the resort staff asking us to check out and get ready at the reception as the boat back to merang jetty is scheduled at 8.am sharp.

we were constantly reminded by the 'lady' and other staff to be 'fast fast quickly quickly must go to the boat now' that all of us were beginning to lose our temper. it was like a boot camp and we practically had to run towards the boat as if we were one of the Amazing Race contestants.

i told the lady that i wanted 11am boat cause my bus is at 1pm. she said 'kennot. u miss the bus'. it turned out that, we arrived at the jetty at about 8.40am and it was only a 40 mins ride to Kuala Terengganu, arriving there at around 9.45a.m and we didnt do anything for like 3 hours plus while waiting for our bus back to KL.

to sum up -
the island - one of the best that i've ever been and i;d definitle come back to Redang
the resort - ok , full facilities like grocery, souvenir, photo shops, restaurants but too regimented.
the boat time - too early. checking out at 8.00 am? crazy!
