“Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Comparing to other paradise beaches I was slightly disapointed by Palau Kecil. But if you already decided to go there chose BuBu. The bungalows are clean, simple but it is simplicity of taste... Shower and toilet in a small backyard on the back of each bungalow add to the feeling of being in the exotic location. You have plenty of options for dining in Palau Kecil but if you stay in the restaurant in BuBu you will not be disappointed. And do not forget to have refreshing soft drink after breakfast - they do quite a few different ones but all tasted great. Then straight from the restaurant you reach the hot, white sand of the best Palau Kecil beach.

To sum up - the place is not cheap but its worth it.

Inexpensive and really good formula. Staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant. Two free drinks every night and they found us (my sister and I) - staff located us on the beach and took our orders. Food was magic - great Malay chef who cooked brilliant Western cuisine as well. Wonderful snorkelling. The only downside was the effort getting there (flight, bus and boat). Although definitely worth the effort. We will return!!

Room Tip: We liked the ground floor as no stairs.

We stayed in May 2012. The beach was beautiful ,room was clean and the staff was friendly. The staff especially the manager was very kind to my girl even giving her ice-cream. During our last night dinner, we were upgraded to a BBQ dinner which was not in our agenda. Overall it was a nice holiday.

This was my third (and last stay) at BuBu Long Beach resort. While the island is pristine, there are very little accommodations available which would rate internationally 3 star and above. The check-in experience was excellent. They had a staff member waiting to greet us at the pier upon arrival, and sat us down in the lobby, served us fresh juice while we filled out the arrival forms. The room itself (#202 I believe) is not worth the inflated prices the hotel charged. We were given a small room with one double bed, a bathroom with little space for toiletries and wide gaps in the window slats to allow mosquitoes in and out as they please. We were only able to stay one night over Hari Raya, and I found upon leaving the island the next day, that I had in fact been attacked by BED BUGS. The severity of the attack left me uncomfortable, swollen and itchy for the remainder of my holiday in Malaysia. Positives: location, breakfast, daily cocktails. Negatives: restaurant service (though please note: there is no bad service, only bad management!), bed bugs, indifferent staff.

Room Tip: Before paying for your room, ask to inspect the mattress seams for signs of bed bugs.

Directly on the beach, friendly personal, great food (pricy compared to other locations, but good quality). Swimming, snorkling and diving are just great! The rooms are ok - hey, it's definitely not the place where you want to spend to much time in it. Breakfast is good, The cocktails are not always at the top during happy hour but they serve you right on the beach!
Massages right on that one are a highlight too.

Room Tip: There are only "rooms with sea-view" if I'm not wrong.

We stayed here for 3 days and 2 nights. They only challenge was getting to Perhentian, once we were there first we were greeted with beautiful scenery and beautiful clear water. I was already amazed. The hotel is the best part, Staff are so friendly, accommodating and professional. Take the Resort Snorkeling trips, its very nice but exhausting at the end. The food at BuBu is also nice, would wish for abit more variety if i am being overly critical. And also do take the evening walk/hike, its worth it, the view is awesome. Would definitely return to perhentian and BuBu.
