“You get what you pay for”

I can only comment on the cheapest rooms at this hotel. The hill view fan rooms at the back of the property. Yes they are getting old and tatty. The bed was reasonably comfortable. There were a few insects and spiders sharing with me (I expect this in the tropics and I like spiders so no prob for me) The worst thing about the room is it gets really hot in the middle of the day but then that was my decision to have a fan (cheap at 70myr per night) room. I stayed for 5 nights and the room was not serviced during that time. Towels were very old and thin. Soap & shampoo was provided. I only had breakfast at the hotel and that was fine.
The staff I found very friendly and overall enjoyed my stay here mostly because of that.
The Perhentian Island (only stayed on Besar) were quite busy but mostly noticeable on the snorkelling tour (not with FBR) where we would share the sites with up to a dozen other boats.
So if you go cheap ... don't expect too much =) and you wont be disappointed.
You can only swim at the Flora bay beach at high tide.

Room Tip: I was lucky that my room 121 was at the end of the group so did not have people walking past and cou...

We had fan only room, old but ok. Fan was noisy. Good value for the low price.
The food was VERY good (halal = no alcohol) and the waiters were very friendly.
Large beach with crystal clear water ! Excellent spot for snorkelling very near the resort. Took a 3 hour snorkel trip to other beaches and were very pleased.

I have visited here 5 times over the last 11 years and it is one of my very favourite places ever. Friendly staff from the dive shop to the restaurant. Mahadi and Mahani always make you feel welcome and Azman and Zamani in the dive shop will get you diving. Beautiful corals and sea life and perfect for divers and snorkelers. Good food too, no cars no external interferences, just nature.

Cannot wait to get bak soon!

Room Tip: Beach front air con if you can but the cheapest option is fine too. I've stayed in both!

We went there for a 3D2N stay, just a short getaway.
The room was very basic, and well i could say a little run down. TOLIET WAS THE WORST. There were spider webs at the corners and with lots of black stain thingy (dunno what was that, did not dare to look at it) that seriously turn you off. The whole toliet looked super dirty like never been maintained for quite some time.
We booked a triple room and twin room (garden view) for the 5 of us, but THEY JUST GAVE US 2 TWIN ROOMS with one extra mattress. and the mattress was real bad too!
the moment we open the cupboard, it smelled like one kind.
Very disappointed of the room we could say. Would have just paid more for other better resort.

Food wise, not too bad. Staff were friendly. no connection available and u need to pay for their wifi. RM 12 for 2 days. the beach isnt that clear compared to tuna bay resort and others.

Snorkeling trips was real fun! and because the room was a major turn off, we did not really hang out much in the room, just for sleeping purposes only.

Overall, i won come back to this resort again. toliet was really UNACCEPTABLE. my grandmother's wooden house toliet is even cleaner than this. I love perhentian but this time we will choose carefully for a better resort. Passed by many other resorts and realize any of those would be better than this, of cos with a higher price. Hope the management will do something about this.

Room Tip: choose another resort

Stayed here for 5 nights. Accommodation was very basic, small and dirty. Food was terribly bad and expensive. Walk further to dine. Look for other place to stay instead. By the way, Dive center was superb.

Like i said 80% of staff were nice and attentive. But there was problems also.
Its in a perfect place, just front of the beach in a paradise island.
We were playing beach volley and resorts staff were joined us, it was very much fun!!! :)

They make good milk shakes in that restaurant, but they make thousand mistakes in that restaurant.

Room Tip: Don't take chicken sandwich, theres no chicken inside of it. But if you are a 3 year old boy, an...

Stayed here for five nights and did eight dives. The accommodation was, while quite basic, comfortable and peaceful. I recommend an air-conditioned chalet with hot showers. The menu in the restaurant is varied with western and Malaysian food. Alcohol is not served at the resort. If you like to have a drink in the evening, just walk along the beach to one of the other resorts which serve beer and wine. Staff at the dive center are very experienced, friendly and fun to be around.

Room Tip: Any room that is air-conditined is good, however, I think that the seaview rooms would be better!
