“Not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Went there last September with family members. The beach fronting the resort is not that long, not a good spot to snorkel as there are plenty of jelly fishes there. For a good snorkelling you have to get to the other beach ( long beach) where the Summer Resort is located.
Service wise is quite ok. The food is good ,with plenty of varieties. Room is quite ok too.
If you're not too care about snorkelling/swimming, this is a good place to relax as it is a quiet place.

Went there in March'14 with a friend and his family. Initially booked the rooms in East Wing but we were given rooms in West Wing because of some renovation works were going on. In my personal opinion, the later is much better, just like some of the previous comments here. The rooms were clean enough. Food served were delicous. Pool in front of our room is OK. The beach in front of our room was clean too although the water was not at its best condition I supposed, due to the monsoon season during our stay. Not the best view for snorkelling but is good enough for beginners. For better snorkelling, you need to take a 10 minutes walk to the long beach in front of Summerbay Resort (their house reef- quite ok). However, you may not like to spend your time there because it is kind of crowded with Chinese tourist. Or you can take a 15 minutes walk to the left side of East Wing where you could end up at Turtle Beach and it is the best beach on Lang Tengah. Don't forget to visit a turtle sanctuary there and meet Raphe, the friendly turtle guardian who would be delightful to share his experience and knowledge with you. For divers, there is a dive center at the East Wing. The staffs at the resort are friendly too and would be happy to show you around if you ask them. Overall, I am quite sastified but have to rate it 3 because of its isolation, I was expecting better underwater experience, not some dead corals. Still, it is the best option in Lang Tengah for its privacy and seclusion from other resorts.

We stayed at east wing for 2 nights. Our room was facing the swimming pool. The room was basic with a double bed, air conditioned, without TV. Nothing much to comment on the room. However, the room toilet was disgusting, There was a strong cockroach smell in the toilet and there were some cockroach dropping on the wash basin! The hotel management really gotta do something on it..

We were on the full board package and therefore breakfast, lunch, tea break and dinner were all provided by the resort and served at the restaurant. There were not much varieties of food but the taste is acceptable.

The swimming pool is a saltwater pool and basically it was clean. Overall the environment is relaxing. The beach view is nice. Not much activities to do other than snorkeling and diving. A nice relaxing gateway with friends and families. Wifi was available at the restaurant from 7am to 10pm but the signal was quite weak. TV was also available at the restaurant.

Do bring your own hair dryer if you really need it. We requested few times from the receptionist and they failed to provide us

Room Tip: West wing has a nicer swimming pool and a beautiful beach side.

We took a package 3D2N full board. We stayed at East wing of the hotel. We asked for pool view room, they gave us very nice room with nice view, unfortunately the exhaust fan and aircond is not working. Thank you to management, they upgrade us to a better room with the bath tub.
This hotel offer quite environment and friendly staff. Wifi and TV only at the cafe. Free flow coffee and tea which we enjoy the most. The food is nice.
We enjoyed the snorkeling trips, the guys in charge give us a good briefing before we jump into the sea. Apart from that, you can go snorkeling by yourself at the beach just in front of the resort. You can found clown fish, eel, sea cucumber and even baby shark.
We advice to take a night walk to see a blue sand and if you are lucky, you will come across a turtle lay eggs.
Overall, the price we paid for the package are worth it. Enjoy!!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the West wing is newer and nice infinity pool

We were there for 3 days 2 nights, staying in the West Wing Executive Deluxe Room no. 5013. Incredible panorama sea view direct from the room. Snorkeling trip was great as we get to see corals and fish with good visibility on that day. If you are a nature lover, you will gonna like it. D'coconut has lots of coconut trees along the beach (which other resorts don't have this privilege), it's naturally cooler and windy. We spend a lot of time hanging out by the beach just to read and enjoy the sea breeze.
In general, it gives an "authentic beach resort" feel where it does not have too heavy flow of tourist, not too "commercialized" & the staffs are friendly. Cozy is what I can say about this resort. Food on the menu are great in taste, buffet breakfast can be improve.
We will come back again for sure :)

Well the hotel itself was ok. The food was just disgusting. We went and ate at Sari Pacifica and Summer Bay and it was better there. It looks like Sari Pacifica is actually a nicer hotel. Should have stayed there !

The best thing about this hotel is Mr. Daniel Lim and Badrul the boat guy. We had amazing snorkeling with Badrul and he knew all the amazing spots. Candy who is the manager there is a piece of work. All she cares about is that you pay your bill and check out on time. She was not very nice. Seemed really fake. Daniel Lim made sure we had a great boating experience but the rest of the stay was not worth it. The room was basic and the power kept going out and we could not open the windows due to the mosquitos. There was no fan in the room and the AC was the only choice. Eat only the noodles or the fried rice. The rest of the food including breakfast is disgusting. The price you pay is too much for the service and for the quality offered. The best thing is the turtle watch in the bay next door and the people there know what they are doing to preserve the island.

All in all if you want to pay the price go to Redang as the Taaras is much nicer and the beach is nice too. The beach in front of the Cocounut is great and the corals are pretty and you want to stay out there all day but eventually you have to go back to the hotel and eat and drink there and sleep in the bed with bed bugs !

When looking for a place to stay on an island adventure near the Perhentian/Redang islands, one can easily miss Lang Tengah, and boy would that be a mistake !
This island is much smaller than the others and has a very private feel to it, only 3 hotels (and a campsite in the jungle for adventurous travelers) and D'Coconut has the best beach of them all.
The hotel is split in two wings, the west wing and the east wing (separated by an easy 3minute walking trail; east wing has a small and less great beach, apparently more noisy and less good food too).
We stayed at the west wing, in "Executive Deluxe rooms" (no all inclusive package, just breakfast as we wanted more freedom), the rooms were nice but nothing too fancy: somewhat aged basic furniture but the beds were nice and big as well as clean (just a bit of sand but nothing you can't shake off). The balcony had a great view towards the sea and had a couple of nice chairs (great for drying your swimming stuff).
Bathrooms are simple, quite noisy (due to the pump/water heater and being near the air intake for the AC) but again clean (not spotless, but clean enough - ask for fresher towels if the ones you get aren't looking too great... what you get is a bit random).

Since you're on an island you're not going to be holed up in your room, so what mattered to us was a good bed to sleep, a good bathroom to clean up and a good view - all of which we got !

The food on the islands is often portrayed as bad but our experience was pretty good, just don't expect to be eating fresh fish grilled on a beach barbecue, cause that's not going to happen here.
Buffet is often quite varied and good, albeit it varies when you get there (be careful, as they're very strict with times and won't refill at the end) and is actually quite expensive.
We ordered "à la carte" most of the time: the dishes were mostly cheap and far superior in taste - can't recommend it enough (be prepared to wait a while) !
Breakfast is quite random and varies from very basic to great depending on the day...

Our highlight was the bar: fresh cocktails expertly created by "Cocktail guy" (our favorite staff person of the stay!), great attention to detail, fairly cheap and just lovely (again, be prepared to wait a while, he makes them slowly but the result is well worth it!).

Staff was mostly friendly, except the restaurant staff which were somewhat "strict", not allowing us to move tables together tp enjoy a better view and being very lame about the serving times (no exceptions!) but otherwise fairly good and attentive.

Snorkeling is awesome in the area, beaches are plentiful and beautiful, not many people so you can really relax, jungle is nice and leads to breathtaking areas, well worth the little treks.

For the price you'd expect more but the islands are expensive overall so we were quite happy with what we got.

Negatives:
The only downside of it all, which seems to be a recurring theme on all the islands in Malaysia, is the lack of attention to detail :
they build nice looking hotels, have a beautiful natural landscape but everything not intended to be viewed by the visitor is in ruins / trashy...
The island power generator is a crumbling hut, power lines are wildly strewn across the place, trash removal by the staff is almost non-existent outside of main areas (bottles, plastic, random clothes, paper, etc can be found across every corner...) and everywhere you go you're just reminded that it's all very business oriented (even if most of the trash is probably thrown about by tourists).
It really wouldn't take all that much effort and money to foster the place some more and really make it a clean and eco-friendly place... it would both future-proof, increase the overall quality / service level and make you feel less guilty about "consuming the place" - a big difference to me.
