We stayed here as part of our tour of Borneo.

The rooms are very nicely sized, with good aircon. Clean. Bed was a little hard but comfortable enough after the jungle lodges. Bathroom was sufficient.

The resturant supplies a buffet which was terrific. The staff were exceedingly friendly, the only problem we and fellow travellers encountered is the hotel had difficulty in accepting credit cards, which we did not encounter anywhere else in Borneo.

Nice pool and grounds.

The hotel is a short walk to the main town, where its great to go to the seafront, sit at a table for a couple of beers and people watch.

We stayed here a couple of nights to relax after arriving directly from Europe. The pool is fantastic and our delux room on the 6th floor had a nice view over the area. It feels like the hotel is in the middle of the rain forest, but you can actually walk to the downtown area in 15 minutes, at least when it's not dark. Otherwise taxis are easy to get. The bed in the room was the hardest I've ever slept in, but we experienced similar in oher hotels in Sabah. Broadband internet worked very well in the room. The gym was very nice, and the breakfast OK although nothing special. We didn't try the hotel's Chinese restaurant, but heard from other guests that it was really good. The reception staff was very friendly and service minded, although they did not find our reservation when we returned for another night's stay after some excursions, before flying to KK. We did our reservation on the hotel's own web site, and was upgraded both times we checked in from "superior" to deluxe room. They have a brand new wing ("Borneo") with more basic, motel style, accomodation. No wi-fi in those rooms, and now view, but they looked nice as well.

A reasonably priced, very comfortable hotel. After 3 days at Uncle Tan's jungle camp it was a treat to stay here. We had not prebooked and found the price very reasonable. Our children aged 9 & 11 years loved the swimming pool. A big tip if staying at this hotel is to get a piece of cake from the coffee shop to take back to your room. Not only is the cake lovely, its half price if taken away!
The rooms are spacious with a very heavy 70's style. Breakfast was great and included in the room price.
Easily the best hotel in Sandakan and although not in town, its just a short taxi ride away.
The English Tea Garden is very close and another nice, colonial style place to eat at.
