“Good diving...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Fantastic diving in Mabul and Sipadan. Excellent dive boats and dive masters. The rooms are a bit old. Food at the restaurant were substandard to the Malaysian standard. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The water chalets offer fantastic views, especially when the weather was good; you would see the coral and fish clearly right from your balcony!

Some of the best scuba diving we've ever done. Excellent boats, crews and dive masters. The food is good, and the rooms are very nice. No laundry service, which is hard when it rains because nothing dries. This place is best for scuba divers. there is nothing else to do here.

Room Tip: some of the rooms are a long boardwalk away from the dive center. i liked the walks, but if you don...

A whole new experience for me. Never snorkelling before. Believe me...different world down there. Great place, great food and great staff. Feel welcome the moment u set foot on the deck. Leave this place with heavy heart. So lucky to experience this 2N3D honeymoon package for our 17th anniversary. We fall in love again bcoz of this place. A must visit. TQ Sipadan Water Village.

This dive trip was one of my best ever...the diving was out-of this world! The accommodations were so cool, bungalows on stilts over the water. The rooms were huge with A/C, a closet, sitting area, a large deck and an outside area off the bathroom to dry clothes on racks, including clothespins! This is not a luxury resort but it has everything you need and want! Meals are served at designated times, buffet style, both Asian and Western options. Everywhere you look over the railing, it's like an aquarium. During the day there were sea snakes hiding out under the stairs by the lobby bar (you need to ask where they are).

Our nine-person group from Pacific Wilderness Dive Club in San Pedro, California spent 8 nights there and went diving 7 days, with 4 of them at Sipadan Island (a national park with an allowance of 120 divers per day). Sipadan was only a 30-minute boat ride from the "SWV" and we had three dives there daily with surface intervals/lunch on the beach, where they also had a covered picnic area, restrooms and showers. There are 12 dive sites within a minute of the island and although visibility wasn't more than 50 feet you'll see 3000 species of fish on every dive!

The resort staff and dive team were very accommodating, highly organized and efficient. The locker room had private lockers/racks for drying wetsuits and there was also a separate room to hang BC's/Regs. There were numerous tanks for washing equipment that always had fresh water. The dive area was never over-crowded; nitrox is available for $10/tank. The guides were very experienced and showed us lots of unusual sea creatures, identifying them by name with a slate. Dive were generally "drift", always 50-60 minutes with a safety stop over the beautiful reef.

The diving at Sipadan was unbelievable! On one dive at Barracuda Point, we saw huge schools of jacks, barracuda and giant bumphead parrot fish as well as 30 or more turtles, large reef sharks, and a wrasse. The reef was alive with so many species of beautifully colored tropical fish, nudibranchs, eels, soft corals, and everything else you have ever seen in the ocean!! The house reef was home to squid and cuttle fish, lots of crazy anemone fish, and numerous 500-pound turtles who had no fear!

I hope everyone who reads this review puts Sipadan on their "bucket list" because this is absolutely a place you don't want to miss!

Room Tip: Rooms by the dive shop would be very noisy due to the compressor running. Some of the rooms are qui...

The cabins are very spacious, (ours with a beautiful sunset), and placed on the reef, with your own private tarrace. The food was more average, but still good. For a non diver, there is very little to do - except enjoying the sun and the scenery.

Staying at Sipadan Mabul Water Village is a must for divers ! Divers only , if you like the sea and snorkeling you can spend here three or four day, for more days you must be a divers. The resort is good, rooms clean, nice facilities and integrated with the Malaysian style. Some guests say that the bathroom of the room needs some maintenance, our was good .
The restaurant has a magnificent view on the clear water of Mabul and everyone can find something to eat, cuisine Malaysian\Chinese is good and you have always a choice of fish or meat or chicken, vegetables ecc and a buffet of sweets. The staff of the resort is lovely, kind and helpful. Obviously a particular honorable mention is for the diving center, we have done three days of diving, four dives every day and for two full days we went to Sipadan.
The organization is great , the staff very professional and more than helpful, you just have to dive nothing else. Diving in Sipadan is a great experience, Barracuda Point, Big Drop Off and South Point gave us beautiful emotions, not to be missed ! Only one suggest , the people that live in Mabul throw their waste in the sea and when there is no wind or current you can see plastics, papers and so on floating on the sea surface, I beg you to preserve your natural paradise is yours insurance for the future.
