“Wonderful Time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

Stayed there 10 other family members. A very relaxing experience. Just need to be careful when confirming on your departure location from, whether from Mersing or Tanjong Gemok (Pahang\Johor Border). It all depends on the tide. During low tide ferry will not be leaving from Mersing. Pls check with the ferry operators. The resort is serene and peaceful. Activities like snorkelling can be arrange at RM70 per pax. There is also a guided jungle trek which brings you to the waterfall area. Lunch and dinner is readily available near the many stalls outside the resorts. Its cheap and good too. And of course wi-fi is avalable at the common areas. What else would you ask for.

Stayed here with my family, my partners daughter is at that age where she doesn't want to be on holiday with her parents however there was plenty here to keep her occupied. Pool area clean and plenty sunbeds and parasols. Beautiful views on the beach and the sunset here is absolutely stunning! Would love to return! Also keep your eyes peeled as you may see a few little monkeys climbing through the trees!

Lots of facilities, food reasonable priced and clean swimming pool. Next to the sea, everything works (showers, pipes) and friendly staff.

Well stocked shop that sells packaged food ant over the counter medicines. Mask rental is stiff but better to buy in town before going to the resort.

Read some negative comments from others about their tioman trip here before my trip. Therefore i did not except for good experience for my first tioman trip.

My trip is from 28/6/14 ~ 30/6/14. I was very lucky, there is no delay of ferry yet it arrived 15mins earlier (high tide). Paid online for two Standrad chalet but we upgrade to Deluxe when noticed the rooms are far from the rstaurant (the recept will show you the map where the room is). So we paid RM50 per room per night for the upgrade to Deluxe challet (good deal, just RM50 per day can upgrade to bigger room and beter location). The receptionist even gave us a connecting room when she was told that we had two toddler. Did not expect too much for the room facility as it was in an island!

We enjoyed for the breakfast and dinner buffet. Lots of variety and the menu changed everyday!

Just outside the resort guard house, there is a chinese seafood restaurant (i like their marmite chicken, it is boneless!). The food is nice and of cos the price is higher a bit than the mainland.

Room Tip: Standard room from 501 ~ 512 are great. Excellent location which between the restaurant and the lobb...

Was looking for a decent resort for a family holiday on Tioman Island. Not expecting too much adventure in other smaller or isolated accommodation as we are traveling with teenagers. Berjaya Tioman Resort is the biggest resort in the whole of Tioman Island. It located near the biggest town and the main ferry terminal and the only airport. Berjaya Tioman Resort comes with more than 200 rooms and 2 restaurants serving various type of local and international meals. It cost us SGD150 per superior room per night and another SGD600 for meals for 4 persons over the 3 nights stay which were not included in our Agoda.com booking.
The resort is rather old but was very well maintained. The rooms are clean and were well kept. And most importantly the staffs are very friendly and helpful. The only complaint we had was the water pressure from the shower was too small. What can you expect from a small island without any resources.
To travel from Singapore to Tioman, you need to endure a 3 hour coach ride to Mersing (cost SGD40 for 2 ways) in Johor. Get your ferry tickets (RM70 for 2 ways), register your particulars with the ferry operator, and buy your Marine Park entrance fees (RM25 for foreigner), queue up for the boarding pass, then took on the 2 hours ferry ride before landed on the Kampung Tekek pier and transfer to a free shutter bus ride of 5 min provided by Berjaya Resort. They use to offer direct Ferry and Flight from Singapore but apparently I cannot find it available anymore.

We stayed at this resort for 4 nights in the superior chalets . We had 3 rooms ... 209, 210, 212 . ( 21 June - 25 June 2014 )
On reaching the ferry terminal at tioman Islands , there was a bus meant for 20 people waiting when we were around 35 people going to the property ... So there we were waiting in the hot summer sun with our luggage for the bus to drop off the passengers and then come back for us !!!!
Didn't the property staff know how many people were checking in that day !!!!
On reaching the property after a 7 hour trek from Singapore ... Only 1 room was ready at 2 pm the other 2 rooms we got after an hour ....
The room air con in room 209 was switching off every hour on its own ... On calling the technician he said we would just have to switch it on every hour throughout our stay !!!!
Even the staff at the reception didn't help out !!!
Also such a big property didn't have ice ..... They had run out of ice even though we were ready to pay for it !!!
The bright side was the staff in the dining area especially the Nepalese interns who went out of their way to service us !!!
Also the pool was closed by 7 pm on a beach resort ... No bar operational by the pool ... The jacuzzi was only for show - cold water with no pressure !!!
Choice of alcohol bad .... The listed brands not available !!!
Overall a good property but too many let downs and service attitude problem ...
Think before u book !!!!
P.S - don't book through berjaya Singapore as the car n driver were a total disaster !!!

Overall, we had a lovely time at Tioman. Loved the snorkelling and fishing and the relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful beach, sun rise, sunset and a beautiful night sky. Things I liked at the hotel was the pool, the restaurant ( nice dinner with a good team of strolling musicians, good breakfast spread), a nice unassuming game room and even a room to watch the Worldcup in the evenings.
We booked 2 adjoining rooms - however, one of them was a let-down as the air conditioner was not cold. Each time we called the reception and the maintenance crew came, they twiddled with the remote controller but soon after they left, the air conditioner in one of the rooms was not cold. We had to go through this routine for 3 nights and each time the air conditioner still did not work properly. The hotel should really get the air conditioners fixed properly... In addition, one of the days, they changed the towels in the room but did not replace them with any new towels. We had to call and wait for quite a long while ....
