“Beautiful Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Beautiful location and resort, relaxing atmosphere and great service. Great to see a different area besides the KL that is a lot quieter but not too far away. Loved the pool and over water bungalows!!

This is my second time to Avillion, revisiting Avillion since 2 years ago. This time around is with my uncle and his family. It has been well kept since the last time i was there, relaxing environment, great water chalet and clean beaches. The only thing to be improved is the guests parking lot which is opposite the main road. The main road, being uphill and at a bend, is rather busy at times, and very difficult to cross. It is dangerous to the guests to run across everytime we want to get our cars. Hope the hotel management is able to do something about the parking for the safety of hotel guests.

We spent 2 Nights at the water chalet. It was nice and very relaxing. The entire place is great but they need updating their chalets. They look tired. Having said that, we had quite a good room with an acceptable view, not too close from the other chalets and it was during the week, so not too crowded. When the tide comes in this is when you can really call them water chalets otherwise you only see mud which is a pity but I guess it is probably the same for all water chalets unless you are in the middle of the ocean. The breakfast was OK, not too much choice but sufficient for us (vegetarian) and we could go to 2 different restaurants to eat. But the lower restaurant has better choice than the upper one. . We did not use the pool but it looked nice. There is a beach nearby which is fairly clean but I don't know about swimming in the sea! The gardens are beautiful and so is the spa area, overlooking the bay. They also have a pool which can be used only by adults which is nice when you want some peace and quiet. There are roosters, peacocks walking around and it gives a feel of wonders. It's a lovely hotel and I would love to return and stay there a bit longer.

We went to Avillion for Christmas celebrations. It is a resort with a very tropical and relaxing feel to it. The rooms were amazing - couldn't fault it. The beds were just so plush and sound of waves outside the chalet were very relaxing. The staff tried their best to accommodate every guest since it was Christmas and they put up a great effort in it. Staying here is akin to staying at an island resort with 5-star facilities. Kudos Avillion!

P.S. The Galley Lounge has amazing live performances and fine drinks as well.

Room Tip: Try to get the Premium Water chalets if you are willing to fork some extra cash to enjoy ace vista v...

The grounds, rooms and pools are all wonderful. Very very nice. On first impressions we thought we were going to have a fantastic time at Avillion.

The problems were:
- The in-resort food and drinks were terrible and overpriced (not really many options to eat elsewhere)
- There was a party on the beach when we were there which kept us up
- Our food orders came out at different times, over 20 minutes apart
- The hotel reception only uses their own transportation service which is VERY overpriced. The receptionist told me that finding a local taxi would be very difficult. It took over an hour of discussions with the duty manager to get them to ring a local taxi which was far cheaper (they charge 150MYR to airport and 90 MYR to Seremban)
- When we were there the free shuttle bus service was not on because their driver was on 'another assignment'

Booked 2 nights at Water Chalet room in May 2014.

Port Dickson is never my choice for even a short holiday even though i live 1 hr away. However due to the coup in Thailand, i have no choice but to find some place near.

I paid almost RM 650.00/night for the water chalet. Heard about this resort for quite awhile and try out the idea staying above the sea. Below are my findings.

Pros
1) Consider well maintain (outside my room) for Malaysia standard,
2) Great experience staying in the water chalet.
3) Free internet

Cons (mind you a long list)
1) Poor service.
- Resort has 3 check-in/out staff with very little experience in handling customer inquiry.
- Was at the hotel at 11 am. Check-in staff has nothing to do beside chit-chatting among them but refuses to check-in any guests . I have to go back at 2 p,m.

I tried to reason with them but they just said no despite a lot of guests seem waiting. Started to check-in before 2 pm (around 1.40 p.m) when this this staff started to checked-in her friends (most probably travel agents).

Everyone saw that and rushed to queue to check-in. However 1 was engaged with her friend and 1 on training left with 1 check-in staff doing the check-in all the guests in 1 go.

We can visual the situation with hundreds of guests trying to check-in in 1 go. Long queue, filthy and anger on guests face.

After checked-in there are no concierge to bring your luggage to your room, maybe after 4 hours and i am not sure. U have to pull your luggage down the stairs, take the lift, down the stairs again then walk about 100-200 meters (forgot need to climb stairs again) to your room.

2) Breakfast
- Expensive, nothing much, tasteless, very expensive

3) i thought i could enjoy the sea view since mine is a Water Chalet, but i can't even stand on the little balcony because its filled with birds drops and no 1 cares to clean.

4) Air Con not working so, got to stay 1 night without air-con and sweat.

5) Air-con compressor located inside the toilet, so, extra warm air when u bath. Worst experience when u need to do long business, Imagine u will sweat like crazy unless u off the air-con.

6) The sea are murky and noisy due to waves.

7) Although the long history of Port Dickson, u can hardly find anything there except plenty of abandoned condos/apartment a long he beach. With this in mind, i expect the resort could have more activities for the guests. But very limited are available.

They have this very tiny farms there, since this is the only entertainment for the guest, when come to feeding time, hundreds of guest flocks there to enjoy some pack time with animals.

8) The resort has 3 car parks. 1) Reserved to VIP 2) small hotel frontage car park where it is always full. 3) bigger car park opposite the hotel. U have to walk a cross the main road (quite dangerous) which i hated that. I once waited 1 hour just to park at the hotel frontage.

9) They have free movies in tiny Karaoke room but only, repeat only available during day time. Night time.... go find your own activities.

10) Very limited in-house (room) TV channels. They have the history worst Vision 4 channels which, u have selection of 1 NON High Definition movie (depending on your luck to got nice show) channel, 1 documentary, 1 BBC news and 1 Nickelodeon. The rest are local channels with super bad reception. So bring a long your I pad...

11) Internet are free, but you have to wait like 10 minutes in order to load a page of news.

Room Tip: Bring a long your own entertainment

We stayed at the water chalet for the weekend and was impressed with the hotel. The staffs were helpful, the room was clean and cosy. The shower had good pressure, the bed was comfortable and free breakfast was sufficient. The adult swimming pool was truly heavenly and serene without kids running around, screaming and in our way. Am glad the kids pool was a mile away from this pool too. Also tried Avi spa 90 minutes massage and had the ultimate treatment; customer service was pleasant, massage pressure was just right and the massage room and ambience was unforgetable. This is a must when in Avillion. Overall, it was a good stay and we don't mind visiting again.

We could be visiting weekly if the following were improved:
- there were Mosquitos in our room; the hotel should prepare repellant. We bought ours.
- f&b are slightly overpriced. It would be quite pricey for a family meal.
- finally, the walkway to the water chalet could be better lit.
- car park could used some shades
- rooms upgrade needed as the furniture looks tired and worn.

Room Tip: Ask for water chalet rooms further out to the ocean... 800 onwards
