Hotel Vovotelo is situated on the beach amongst palm trees. There is a dive center right next door offering up to three dives per day at very reasonable prices. The diving is some of the best diving I have ever done and culminated in a 32 m shark dive where we saw black marlin, potato bass and of course lots and lots of sharks. Life at the hotel is as laid back as it comes. After your dives, you can either lie around in a hummock outside your bungalow or drink a few beers at the pub. I found the food to be excellent. A good thing about travelling to Madagascar is that it is very cheap, esspecially if you travel on the pound or dollar.
The national language is French and the locals dont speak too much english.
There are a few local clubs in the area which specialize in the local rum - hangover material!!
Of interest is the Baobab forest situated just outside of town which is certainly worth visiting. Madagascar has 18 different types of Baobab whilst Africa has only 1!
