“First Class”

This lodge was first class. The views are unbelievable, so many different herds of animals coming to the watering holes it was a wonderful experience.

The rooms were beautiful with towelling robes for your use and various beauty products in the bathroom, none of which we were expecting.

The food and service was excellent.

The guides at the hotel were so helpful, they were spotting animals down below in the Rhino park.

A wonderful lodge, would like to stay there for a lot longer next time.

Stayed at the Kilaguni on the second night of a three night safari. First night was in Voi, and third in Ngulia.

Kilaguni is far and away the best of the 3, and I have to admit with red faced shame that we actually missed out on the afternoon game drive, because we were having such an excellent relaxing time at this lodge, and still recovering slightly from the lack of sleep at Voi. The grounds and pool are beautiful, the views of Mt Kilimanjaro stunning, and the game viewing from the dining room/bar excellent.

If like me, you are on holiday, and although desparately keen to observe wildlife, are also looking to relax, then I would (with hindsight) have arranged my own safari and spent 2/3 nights in Kilaguni Lodge, and not bothered with the other 2 places. The drive from Mombassa is long enough and the game available to view from Kilaguni absolutely superb, so why spend 2 inferior nights in other lodges, travelling extra distances, when a one base safari in superb surroundings is possible.

Stayed here for 1night/2day. Drove from nairobi and thouroghly enjoyed the stay. Stayed in room no 42. Which was at the far end overlooking the watehole and had elephants right outside our balcony. Were visited by over 100elephants that night.

Service at the lodge was fantastic including food and drinks. We also did a night game drive at the park, which was an unique experience.

During our second holiday to Kenya, we also did a safari again and visited also Tsavo West and Kilaguni Serena Lodge, staying there for 1night/2days in June 2007.

Food was excellent (as always at Serena Lodges), friendly staff, nicely decorated rooms with a wonderful view of the nearby waterhole and the hills and Kilimanjaro at the horizon. There is a swimmingpool as well, which looked inviting, but which we didn`t have time to use because we were so busy watching the many animals like buffalos, zebras, ostriches, a hyena, antelopes, a giraffe, lots of birds etc coming and going to and from the waterhole and the surroundings.
There were a mongoose mansion just outside the lodge when we were there in June 2007 and you could sit on the viewing deck watching the little ones coming out to play. They were really cute and entertained us for quiet a while!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Kilaguni Serena Lodge in Tsavo West very much and we would recommend this lodge!

We stayed here for one night as part of our safari and really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in one of the older rooms and having seen pictures from previous reviews of the newer rooms, i would strongly suggest that you stay in the newer ones. The older rooms are comfortable and clean but could do with some urgent renovating.

However, as the experience went, it was fantastic.

There is a large watering hole right in front of the hotels' bar and restaurant facilities and various animals drink from it all day long. During the morning, there were 100s of buffulos and throughout the day, zebras, antelopes, ostriches etc visited.

At night, we saw a few elephants and giraffes. It is a spectacular back drop to enjoy a drink - and there is no fence to stop them entering the resort - however, none did.

The meals and restaurant was good and the staff polite.

I would definately go back again, however, i would query the price of the newer rooms.
