“''A Paradise in the middle of Nowhere!''”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Having been on safari trips for couple of years now, it has always been my opportunity to visit different types of Camps and Lodges in east and and central Africa, but Kibiko Safari Camp situated at the Galana river just a view kilometers from Sala Gate caught my entire attention!

The location of this camp is super well thought of,..a small number of staff that work tirelessly in making the comfort of the guest is met right from the reception/rooms to the swimming pool. The kitchen is one of the perfect italian kitchen of its sort, rarely to the many imagination of the most people visiting the camp...I have always liked the meal plan and that meet international standards, which made me think of this being a paradise in the middle of nowhere!

I have been here several times, i promise to come again anytime possible to keep on enjoying this serene hospitality!

Room Tip: The front tents on the first row from the river are awesome!

Dear Oscar and Antigone,
The few days we spent at the camp were wonderful! Your dedication and attentions to details is reflected in everything you do and in the camp's arrangement and location. The Camps structures are unique and beautifully made - The new swimming pool looks great and a great place to "chill off" in the hot afternoon hours.
And the food... Mamamia, the food... The best Italian pasta I had outside of Italy! Great work and creativity!
And, more importantly - The logistics that was organized to the last detail! From the welcome wine (Italian of course...) at the fire pit, to the Safari Game Drives (such a short distance to the parks and all the wonders of the Savannah), the Maasai exposure, the wines at the hilltop overlooking the stunning view of Africa's plains on sunset, and the rest. Who said the Italians are not that good in organization???

All in all, for those who read these reviews, it is a place where you can have it all - Relaxation, action, great hosts, excellent proximity to the Tsavo East National Park and all the wild animals one can take.

Thank you, Kiboko Camp for a work well done! You will see me again.

And, good luck to F.C. Roma!

Excellent overall value - dramatically cheaper than other safari camps, and overall a better atmosphere, food, and hosted brilliantly. Oscar is a charmer, and certainly loving life - it's infectious and you'll find yourself wishing you could lead his life.

Only hesitation was the activities could have been a bit better, our hike was a fair bit shorter than we should have liked. But overall, as a place to just escape the world and relax, this is an excellent place. I'm sure when the pool and pool bar are finished, this will be an even better place to hide away for a few days.

as lodges go this is my preferite, excellent combination of comfort but also of rugged environment. no electricty but all necessary comforts. management not oppressive but very friendly. wonderful environment.

Room Tip: just decide before if you want a bigbed for two or two separate beds....

What a great place to stay, Oscar and his team are lovely and the camp is perched above the river. Accommodation is in a string of super comfy tents (not too many) and there is a spacious covered restaurant to eat and hang out in (where they serve superlative Italian food!) Scraps are fed to Giorgio down in river and the two very friendly competent Masai guards make sure that the wildlife doesn't get too close. They were finishing off a swimming pool when we stayed which will make it even better. Highly recommended.

Kiboko camp is great! Crocs Giorgio and Susana were on the river bank to greet us as well as hippos just hanging out a little way down the river. The staff were super friendly and knowledgable. The tents are very luxurious for the setting - with own toilet and shower. The food was also great - I had to go to Kenya to eat the best gnocchi of my life (fennel and bacon). And the safari was a highlight of course. I got to see elephants drinking in the river at sunset as well as buffalo, hippos, giraffe, zebra, baboons, warthogs, dik diks, different types of antelope and much more.
