Wonderful location, food and general ambience was wonderful . Staff were great. The accommodation really was not good bed was like sleeping on an old door, the bedrooms really need some work and the bathrooms well what can I say but improvement would be a good thing. Look overall it was good but just don't look forward to a good nights sleep

Lake Nakuru lodge needs to be renovated. The room that was given to us was claustrophobic, musty and did not feel clean. The bathroom was poor. On mentioning this we were given a larger room that was much better. Water seemed slimy. A thorough upgrade of bathrooms are required. The great views of the lake, lovely food made up for a lot left lacking by the rooms. We arrived there on dec 24th and had an amazing song and dance sessions with a group called friends of lake Nakuru. Felt christmasy listening to carols and joining in the singing. They got all the guests actively involved.

So, we stayed here for one night during our seven day safari. The environment is meant for families as there are kids everywhere. The food is decent and buffet style. No beverages are included, not even water. So, be prepared to pay 2USD for a glass of juice (not freshly squeezed). The food was not memorable, so that's better than bad. The room was an okay size with a pretty good view. What is odd, is that it has a queen bed and a twin bed in the room. Could also hear the neighbors a little (not too bad) and a group of men stand outside just chattering away waiting to help someone with luggage. It's kind of disconcerting, as it defeats the purpose of trying to sleep in the A.M..

Tips (no pun intended): The staff is overly helpful, looking at you like you are a sack of money. We got really tired of tipping every person that breathed near us. But I can't blame them since it doesn't look like any of the money trickles down that far. The whole country has their hand out to do something for a few shillings. However, I can't find any reason not to recommend this place.

Lake Nakuru Lodge is one of the few lodge to be situated inside the Lake Nakuru park. The lodge offers a great view of the lake. I stayed at Lake Kanuru Lodge during last week of September 2012. The room given to me was not very impressive and was very disappointing. The standard of bathroom was of very poor, the supply of hot water was not proper and I had a great difficulty while taking shower. The walls of the shower area was filled with small ants immediately after the shower was open, the ants came out of small holes on the wall near the slower panel. The mosquito net of my room was the worst thing, it had many holes and the net was not big enough to cover the whole bed. I have to complain several times before someone came to inspect. I demanded a new room but they refuse by saying the lodge is full and when they found me very angry of the satiation the manager of the lodge came to me and apologies for the mess. He arranged a new mosquito net for the night to put in my room, but the net was very small and barely cover the bed. I had to crawl into the bed and sleep straight like a dead body. The food at the lodge was not very good and the quality was pretty ordinary. The only good point about the lodge was the evening entertainment by local tribal groups which was pretty good. Overall the lodge was not worth of what I paid for and was not at all value for money. I will not recommend a stay at this lodge, there are few more lodge inside the park which are of much better in quality.

Room Tip: Make sure the bathrooms are clean and the mosquito nets are proper while checking in.

The one nice thing about this place is the views from the rooms. With a good pair of binoculars you can see the rhinos and elephants grazing in the grass many miles away down at the lake. My main gripes about this place are: plugged toilets, solar hot water heater, no hot water early in the morning because it cooled down at night. No heat or cooling in the rooms, drains are very slow, skimpy mosquito netting, all lights are CFL's and emit a harsh and cold glow. Food is OK, but the deserts are tough and dry. Food is on par for Africa. Meat is tough and chewy. Omlet bar chef should learn the right way to make an omelet.

Room Tip: get a lakeside room.

We had to very nice days at the lodge and in the park. The cabins were clean and spacey. The restaurant and buffet was very good. In the morning it was quite nice to sit only a few meters from the savannah and lot of animals eating breakfast. The day we arrived was after a long ride from Nairobi. Everybody loved they could jump into the pool. Even the baboon attack one day gave a lot of laughter. But that the way it is when you are on a lodge in the middle of the savannah.

Good lodge in Lake Nakuru. Staff were friendly and helpful, apart from porters that were lurking for luggage outside the room every morning in order to get tips for carrying your luggage. Food was good, but the restaurant was very crowded. In front of our room was a deck from where we had a really scenic view over lake nakuru.

Would recommend this lodge.
