“Unforgettable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We had an incredible time at Captain's in June 2010. We started with a 5 hour tour of Wadi Rum and our tour guide was excellent - even let me drive. We arrived at Captain's at sunset and hung out with the guides after dinner, smoking shisha and drinking tea. Also received a marriage proposal under the stars! Loved our tent and our sunrise camel tour of the surrounding areas the next morning.

This was a once in a lifetime experience in wadi rum. The food was wonderful. They had some of the best bread that I ate in Jordan. The entertainment was fun and the service was great. The tents gave you a sense of Bedouin life.

My experience at Captain's Desert Camp was incredible to say the least. We have stayed at the camp with my family (husband and my three children 20-30 yrs) twice and in another opportunity with my sisters who traveled from South America. The hospitality and service at the camp is FANTASTIC. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, any age, traveling to Wadi Rum.

The camp is clean, safe, and well kept; they make you feel so welcome and take great care of you throughout your stay. The location of the camp is also ideal, unlike many other camps in the area that are far away. You could actually arrive with your car to the camp itself, making it very convenient with people who have cars packed of luggage and valuables.

My first impression upon arriving to the camp was : WOW! The camp site is unique, very colorful and comfortable tents are very nicely put together. The decoration is very attractive, Bedouin-like style-- a true taste of culture. The quality of the food is fresh, authentic, abundant, and well prepared. The live music at dinner is delightful; the camp and the Bedouins that work there are lively, friendly and engaging with everyone. They are extremely helpful and kind, and are ready to assist you at any moment.

The facilities are very clean and very well equipped--even with showers-- which was a very pleasant surprise since we did not expect it in the desert. We have recommended the camp to friends who have visited and EVERYONE has loved it.

The jeep tour is unique; the drivers are very responsible and experienced with driving in sand. The guide takes you to the best spots around the desert: sand dunes, scriptures, rock bridges, etc. and to end it all, a magnificent spot to see the sunset- it is truly magical!

The camel tour with Shaban, one of the Bedouins who work there, was unforgettable. He prepared tea for us in the middle of the desert with sticks that he would gather along the way, and would give us all the time we needed to explore and frolic in the sand dunes. He made us feel so happy and shared with us very special moments.

We are very grateful to Rafiq, the owner of the camp, and his tremendous hospitality. He is truly determined to make your stay at his camp a happy and unforgettable one. It was honestly hard to leave the camp the next day, and we are looking forward to come back again in September. Bravo!!!!

I loved this place. Staff was fantastic, helpful and fun. They offered a variety of activities, great food and campfire atmosphere. The camel trek was fantastic. Stunning sunsets and a restful quiet sleep in the desert. The tents are large and cosy, however, they heat up quickly once the sun comes up (I was here at the end of May).

Great experience, which I'm glad I did whilst in Jordan.

I stayed in Captain's Camp per a good friend of mine's suggestion. She had been living in Jordan for two years and had frequented this camp at least a couple times a month. I figured that if she lived in Jordan and was still going so often to this camp, I couldn't go wrong...I am SO glad that I trusted her recommendation! This camp was perfect. We took a jeep tour through Wadi Rum and we passed by some other camps, even stopped in one for coffee...and none of them were even close to the charm of Captain's Camp. The accommodation's are cute, the service is 10/5 stars (yes, 10 out of 5!), especially Mahmoed..he was beyond helpful. The wonderful owner, Rafiq, was very helpful as well! And the dinner was incredible. Much more than we were expecting. It was absolutely delicious. There is no doubt in my mind that this camp is the best value at Wadi Rum. Amazing all around!

i am very surprised from some reviews ???? this is a Bedouin campsite ... this is not 4 or 5 stars hotel... some saying that tents not comfortable or not very clean .... what to expect from campsite in the mid of nowhere ..... desert, sand, camels, Bedouin tents, very clean toilets .and very tasty food.
highly recommended ... very funny camel ride.. enjoy your time..

Room Tip: sunset or sunrise camel ride.
