“sweet/sour”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2009

The Palace is what supose to be a very good 4 star hotel. It is well located, built and equiped. The hotel is well managed. There is a visible concern in deliver a quality service. In a general way the service is good. Rooms are clean and confortable. The front desk friendly and eficient. The restaurant presents a menu that is not expected in a city like Vung Tau but the table service is poor and lazy. Rooms are very clean but bed clothes are not or poorly pressed. Landry service eficient in time but with the same bad pressing. During day time and until 10 pm the front desk is top level providing a 5 star service, but at night stuff move in to front of tv leaving a needed customer without support. At hotel massage parlour high tips are "imposed" to customers. There is a hotel concern about keep a decent environment do not allowing the stay for non married couples but during night is possible find bar area with many prostitutes with a non shy profile. Looks that the absence of supervising at night removes 3 from the 4 daily stars allowing room rent outside hotel policy and without papers being issued. A good hotel were bad things runned by an installed mub happend.

I stayed the third time in the Palace. For me, as a business traveller, it is the most convenient hotel to stay in Vung Tau. Rooms are spacy and pleasant offering free internet connection. The reception is usually helpful and the staff generally shows a professional attitude (with some exceptions). Laundry is done very well. The only question I'd like to ask is, why does a pair of underpants cost the same as laundering and ironing a shirt? But then, you are staying at a Vietnamese hotel and not everything is explainable. Overall, I'd like to recommend this hotel and compliment their staff for having a good understanding of what is important to travellers.

The Palace is centrally located just across from the beach.
The food in the restaurant is very good as is the attentive Vietnamese service.
Rooms are nice and many have balconies.
There is a fully electronic casino.
The Palace Massage center is very large and nice. A full body two hour massage can be had for twenty US dollars! A full foot reflexology room and excellent masseuses.
Highly recommended and the staff is super friendly and accommodating.

I just recently stayed at the Palace right after typhoon Durian hit. Even though Vung Tau's streets were strewn with fallen trees and debris from the typhoon, the Palace was in ship shape. The services were great and the personel extremely helpful. As a Vietnamese expatriate for over 30 years, the Palace brings back memories of the past. I really enjoyed the great food at the restaurant, especially the free breakfast in the morning. Keep up the good work.

We spent 2 nights in The Palace Hotel and during the intervening day we toured the peninsula. Unfortunately the hotel did not advise us prior to our arrival that major refurbishment works were underway which started at 7.00 a.m. each morning. We had to persuade the manager to arrange a car for their advertised tour but the other girls in reception were extremely helpful and recommended two excellent restaurants.
Since the hotel is part of The Oil Services Group which has a number of hotels in the area we were sumwhat surprised that they did not simply close The Palace during the refurbishment and book us into alternative accomodation. Had we planned to stay longer we would have moved out.
